Room Check: Poe 216
Video Projector
------------
Everything is displaying with a red tint. Someone will need to come back with
the Poe 216 Closet Keys and at least 30 minutes to troubleshoot this problem.
Possibly a bad BNC or bad connection (loose cable, etc.).
Thursday December 7th, 2006 - 3:01pm - emkinney
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The story of Poe 216 is an amazing one.
As I was driving down the road going to do my next lab check, Mr. Scott Curcio
paged me on my nextel. "Hello," I said, "how can I help you today?"
"There's a problem in Poe 216, it's an emergency. We need to fix this
efficiently and quickly or the world will end," Scott responded.
"OH NO!" I gasped, and turned the van around as quickly as I could. I drove to
the Hillsborough building and got the keys to Poe 216 from the lovely lady at
the operations desk. I told her to have a pleasant day, and sprinted back to
the van - we could waste no time.
I drove as quickly as I could while obeying the speed limit, of course. Scott
was waiting at Poe, eager to fix the problem. I found a spot to park the van,
and we ran down to Poe. The people that we passed were in awe. "Are those the
ITD superheroes?" I heard one of them say. We then activated our flying
capabilities and flew over Park Shops, as buildings are annoying like that.
After a safe landing on the ceiling of Poe, we jumped onto the pavement,
activating our super ITD trampoline shoes to prevent injury. We walked up the
stairs and rushed into the closet. When we got there, we were in awe. "This is
PROPOSTEROUS!" I exclaimed, and we both just stood there and shook our heads.
The red lead in the RGB cable had been just stuck into the BNC connector and
was wrapped with massive amounts of electrical tape.
Seeing this, we flew back to the warehouse, as we could waste no time with
mortal land-based transportation. We located a large box of BNC connectors,
but, alas! We could find no crimper! In an act of desparation, we paged Lord
Specter and Lady Richardson. The location in which they thought the crimper
was yielded no crimper.
Scott then had a stroke of genius. "Why don't we just use 2 pairs of pliers?"
he said.
"It could work," I replied.
We grabbed the two pairs of pliers, a bag of BNC connectors, and a coax
stripper, and busted through the wall. Superheroes do not use doors.
Amazingly, the van was back at the warehouse. Sparky, the ITD wonder dog, had
driven it back to the warehouse for us. "Great job, Sparky!" we said, and gave
him a piece of steak. Scott took one too.
Once we reached Poe again, we teleported back into the closet of Poe 216.
There, we removed the existing BNC connector from the red lead. To our dismay,
we discovered that the center conductor was too long to fit into the new
connector! We searched for something to cut it with, but came up with nothing.
I ran out of the closet, desparately searching for a cutting implement. The
Dutchess of Education happened to be sitting in her office around the corner.
"Good afternoon, loyal subjects. What brings you to my castle?" she inquired.
"We require a pair of scissors, your highness." I replied.
She reached in her pocket and produced a pair. We promised to bring them right
back. With scissors in hand, we ran down the hall. My mother appeared and told
me to stop running with the scissors, so I did. We crawled back to Poe 216.
Using the scissors, we cut the metal center conductor. The dielectric was too
long now!
Using my fingernails of steel, I stripped the dielectric from the cable in one
smooth motion. We placed the fitting onto the connector, and slid the
connector over the cable.
With amazing superhuman strength capabilities, Scott and I prepared to crimp
the connector. We positioned our pliers on either side of it, and counted
down.

GO!
In that instant, a click could be heard all around the room, and we knew we
had succeeded. We plugged the BNC connector back in, and tested out Ye Olde
Crestron Panel. The projector turned on, and, alas! The color had been
restored!
We celebrated, and the Dutchess of Education had a feast in our honor,
complete with otters, midget jesters, and Ben Wilkus.
After we had had our fill of food, we prepared to go back to the warehouse.
For some reason, the cast from Saved By The Bell was there to greet us. Zach
Morris stepped up first. "Great job, guys!" he said.
Then they all left, and we went inside, and updated ye olde remedy call.
Thus ends the story of the GREATEST CLASSTECH REPAIR... EVER!
*the end*"
