I need a short (2 min - ~73mb) video clip converted from .mov to a windows (MPEG or WMA) format for me. I've tried a few freeware converters to no avail.

I would REALLY appreciate it - I need it in the next hour

Download and install QuickTime alternative
(optional)Download and install Windows Media Encoder

Use windows media encoder or windows movie maker to convert the .mov to .wmv.

^ it's windows movie maker that is having a problem with EVERYTHING but one or two types of video. Lemme check on it for converting...

well the thing is you need a Direct Show filter for the .mov files for windows movie maker/windows media encoder to do the conversion.

Quick time Alternative is that direct show filter. It will also allow you to play .mov in Windows Media Player.

9 hours after the start of the project (with a break for dinner and some stuff in between) - it's converted ;-)
