how many 20 win major conference teams dont make the NCAAs?

marquee win or not, 20 wins and we are in. That means 9-7 in the ACC... 8-8 and you are in most years.

9-7 we are in. 8-8 without a win over UNC or Duke and we probably aren't unless we win 2 games in the ACCT. Look, we have no bigtime wins. Villanova and Seton Hall were nice wins over bubble teams but nothing more. We just don't have that road win against a good team that we can point to.

To be honest asking to go 6-4 over the next 10 is a lot of this team right now... I'm hoping we can but NIT looks the most likely destination at this point... and that is a shame for as much talent as we have. If JJ leaves the immediate future doesn't look as bright as it did just 3 months ago...

Yeah but a W sun and tues, both at home will put us back to .500 in ACC ball. Should be able to win both of those, but we are talking about N.C. State here. Second half on the ACC looks much better when we get Clemson, UNC, and Duke at home, with games against UVA and WF on the road. So if we could win one of those tough home games, we are back in contention.

Look, the question isn't if we can beat Duke and Clemson et al. We can.

We just need someone on our team to keep everyone fired up when things don't go our way.

^ exactly I think one of the keys to state loosing last night was that the team allowed themselves to get frustrated and therefore mentally out of sync. Duke took advantage of that and our lapses in defense put us in insurmountable odds for the potential of a comeback.

pretty much sums it up. normally 8-8 would do it but our bad losses combined with lack of marquee wins means we need 9-7.

so 7-3 the rest of the way. that means something like this...

I think the Wake game was a pretty solid marquee win, although Wake hasn't been all that great recently. Just the ending makes SportsCenter, which is enough for me.

Nope. We have no marquee wins at the moment. I think it may take 2 tourney wins to get us in at 8-8, but we should be a lock (albeit a crappy seed unless we light up in the ACC tourney) at 9-7. As far as NIT, we'd have to do pretty badly the rest of the way out for me to be worried. I think we'd still have a chance NIT-wise even if we go 3-6 the rest of the way out to finish 16-13, 6-10 in league.
