I've gotten to the point where I don't bother with every year's version of the sports games.
Tiger Woods - they pretty much stopped doing updates for this (PC version at least) some years ago.
NCAA Football - I stopped getting these when I gave up consoles for PC only. I wish it would make it's way to PC though, then I'd probably start back up with this one.

It is going to be tougher to blind buy releases from the companies that give the series to a different developer every other release. Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Splinter Cell all coming to mind.
