More specifically, I need some thermal compound, a CPU cooler, and maybe some SATA cables?

Is the tigerdirect store going to be the cheapest?

cheap computer parts + local store = does not exist

cheapest way is to order stuff online... sometimes it's even cheaper to do that AND get next day shipping than it is to get it from a local store

you're going to pay an insane markup for stuff at local places

They had about 3 stores in the raleigh cary area that had some extremely cheap stuff. But I think they all were rolled into the large store on Wake Forest Rd. You could definitely get all those as cheap if not cheaper than even the tigerdirect outlet.

Thanks, I'll call intrex and tiger and see who is cheapest when I know what I'll need. Out of principle I don't want to order an item from egghead that's $3.50 and pay $5 shipping.

lol, doubt there's enough spoiled brats on campus throwing out their cpu heatsinks and sata cables in good condition because they want to make their computer match their new GI Joe bedspread.

Warp Computers at Capital Blvd/Brentwood Rd. They have a large box of cables of all sorts for $1-5 a piece. Nice people too, they let me borrow a magnetic screwdriver and an anti-static band a couple weeks ago.

I also have half a tube of thermal compound if you want it, and 2 Sata cables.

SUCKS because they don't combine shipping!

Ah well, at least I know where to get cheap cables now

naw newegg combines shipping to a degree iirc. like if you order 6 items with $5 shipping each, your shipping will be like $18 or something

not when I was ordering. $16 for a case, added a tube of thermal compound and it went up $5.

That's because they usually ship the case separately, in its original manufacturer's box. When I ordered multiple components from them including a case, the case was apparently shipped to me from a different warehouse than the rest of my stuff (a PSU and some memory).

My case was shipped from new jersey, and the thermal compound from california.
