^ Keys that take some effort to push down... like on a real piano. 2/11/2008 2:45:55 PM |

oh, that makes sense.... i take it that most cheaper keyboards (<$200) dont have weighted keys? 2/11/2008 11:17:03 PM |

^ yes. You have to pay a whole lot of money (~$1000+) for a keyboard where the keys are not only weighted, but feel like a real piano. Cheap plastic keys FTL. 2/12/2008 12:01:47 AM |

darkone, why are you going to troll the thread, bitching about how the keys aren't weighted, thus it sucks? If you dont want it...fine. But don't drone on and on about how your leet piano skills can't bear to touch a key that doesn't feel like the smooth ivory of a baby grand. 2/12/2008 12:31:27 PM |

^^im not sure what he is complaining about. Sucks when you don't know how to play either way 2/12/2008 12:34:15 PM |

^^ No trolling, just education. TaterSalad asked about key weighting, so I gave him the info. People can play on whatever they want. My playing skills are far from awesome anyway. They're more like some sort of anti-awesome.
Anyway, back to the point of this thread: selling the OP's keyboard. They best feature of this keyboard is computer connectivity. A keyboard like this in great for note entry into what every your preferred music notation software might be.

I've played this model at Target I think, the keys are not weighted. But they do have (also at target) a fully weighted keyboard for $499.2/13/2008 11:33:00 AM |

the keys do respond differently to varying touches and pressure. the keyboard also has a usb interface for composing music through a computer and what not. 2/13/2008 3:20:35 PM |

I may be interested in this....I wouldnt be able to purchase until later in the week. Do you know if they still have this model on the floor at a local BB? I would like to compare it with one that i was looking into buying from earlier. I don't know how to play piano, but am looking to learn. Can you tell me what the main pros and cons are between your keyboard and this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8394418&type=product&id=1179876644228? 2/18/2008 11:36:10 PM |

mine has more keys (almost a full set) and a usb connection instead of MIDI. The yamaha is more portable than mine is (the casio isnt heavy, just larger). they both offer lesson software built in to the keyboard.
Basically the yamaha is more portable and the casio is more like a real piano. 2/19/2008 1:37:34 AM |

Weighted keys are better for piano, but unweighted are far better for organ and synth work. Lighter plastic keys let you play faster.
For the money, casios usually sound excellent. 2/22/2008 9:26:12 PM |
