ala Rob & Big's Tahoe



Is this retarded expensive to achieve and a pain in the ass to take care of?
Or is it cheap to have done and easy to care for?
I know it has to be one or the other and not in between.

I don't know about flat black, but there's a John Deere paint all the hot rodders use for that satin black. Blitz Black, $25/gallon.

it's kind of a pain to take care of in my experience.

it can be cheap (rattle can) or expensive.. kind of like any other paint job.

I'll tell you right now it's a pain in the ass to keep decent/uniform. Any road grit/oil/cleaners/sap/dirt/23490872 other things your car normally sees during a drive is very visible and sticks to it constantly. After a while it got to the point where the paint scheme is cleaned/changes every time it rains. I don't know what they used but my gloss coat eventually stripped off after a few years and it looks like shit no matter how much you try to clean it.

Actually you can get hotrodflatz and flat clear it and it is just as easy as any other paint to upkeep.

Agreed, Use a quality paint from the start and you wont have anymore problems than with a "shiny" paint job

The good thing that I've noticed from it is that it hides minor imperfections really well. Small dings, sanding marks, etc. don't really show up when the paint doesn't have any mirroring properties.

shit looks too much like a primered ricer for my taste. and it should be easy as hell to take care of. ever tried washing a primered vehicle? 409 and a scrub brush and it looks like......well, primered again.
