I purchased this in Oct. 03 and then I paid $70 bucks to send it in and get a new/refurb.
The one they sent me looks new and pristine and has the factory stickers on it. This leads me to believe that it's brand new. In any case, I have the dock, charger and firewire, earbuds, an aftermarket clear case with a belt clip, the original box, and all the papers. Even the Apple itunes 4.0 CD. Ha.
I'm curious what people would pay for it.... 2/13/2008 1:56:39 PM |

What was wrong with it? My 2ng gen 20gig doesn't switch on.. I think its battery may be dead. Do they replace it? 2/13/2008 8:07:42 PM |

^^ Will it power up when plugged in? If so, yeah, it is the battery. If I were you, I would not have Apple do it. There are all kinds of How-To's on the internet to replace it yourself. 2/14/2008 10:27:51 AM |

I was getting about an hour of music and so I figured I would send it in. I would have used a third-party to swap out the battery but I went the Apple route hoping they would send me a new one... new as in 4th or 5th gen. But apparently, they have new 3rd gen ipods laying around in warehouses. 2/14/2008 10:31:23 AM |

^^yes, it powers up when plugged in. I'm hoping it wouldn't cost a fortune to replace the battery. Else, it's up for sale if anybody wants to give it a go (Sorry babyface, I'm not trying to steal your thread).

I've had some people ask about the size/gen.... the 3rd generation ipod was available in 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 gb sizes.
Here's everything you probably want to know about it ...
