I'm looking to sell my licensed copy of CS3 Premium, which is the academic version that I bought last semester from the NCSU book store, for $300.

It has CS3 Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Acrobat Pro, Dreamweaver and flash. Reason for the sale is to upgrade to the full CS3 Master Collection for the video editing software and I don't need two copies. Before sale, I will fully release the licenses. I won't buy the new software till I sell what I have now. This is the windows version. I'd be willing to trade + cash for your master collection if you so have one.

Except you have the opportunity to buy a LEGAL license.

Not to mention, when you graduate, this becomes a full commercial copy. So you could actually use it for *gasp* business.

I use the software for commercial work so having a legal copy is necessary unless I want to get some hurtin' from the IRS and other organizations. Since I'm still a student, I can use it for my businesses.

^^Yes

^^^When you graduate it becomes a full license. You just can't resell it to a non-student (may not supposed to resell it at all, I cant remember)

yup, you can get fined $5000 for every piece of illegal software that's installed per machine. So if you have the same illegal cs3 on 4 machines, that's a $20,000 fine. At work, we ran into this problem about two years ago when we found out half of our xp pro, server 2003 and number of other programs turned out to be illegal copies.

Turned out that the IT manager was just installing hacked software and profiting the money himself. Auditors found out about it and in turn, the IT manager stole about 50,000 in two years and the company could have faced well over 100,000 in fines. Because the company operated under the impression that we had legal copies, we didn't have to pay the fines, but instead we had to re-buy all of the new licenses, ended up being 50,000 worth of software.

^I'm not sure about the resell either, but I'd figure I could just resell it to another student and be in the clear. I just want the added features of the master collection for premiere pro. And I don't plan on graduating school anytime soon... Shooting for 7 yrs for undergrad.

The previous IT manager created a fake company and had all of the PO's to his company. When you spend over a certain number per year on a vendor, they tend to look at the vendor as well. They check to see if there isn't any money laundering going on. Those auditors are quite thorough in their investigations.

He also stole another $10,000+ worth of computers, mainly laptops, from Dell. So now, because of him, we can't buy anything from Dell or CDW as well. Thank god he didn't fuck over newegg or tigerdirect. We are still trying to clean up his mess as a lot of the older machines don't have documentation on what's legal or illegal. At this point, we are just scrapping most of the older keys and just getting new computers with new software.

He tampered with our software record keeping databases to cover his tracks. We actually had to call up MS, adobe, and a few other software companies to find out what was legal with their databases. All of them proved very helpful with our requests. I think MS even gave us a good volume discount on XP licenses, like corporate pricing vs. small business pricing. He also had access to clients information, such as account numbers and credit cards, so we don't know if he tampered that as well. We haven't heard from CC about identity theft of our clients info so I think we are ok on that. Because of him, we had to implement some serious security overhaul.

He also seemed like an idiot. I'd question his ability as an IT guy when I kept talking to him about computer shit. All of his explanations of why some things won't work were so far off, I'd just look at him weirdly.
