I'm getting rid of a car, and don't know what steps to follow.
How do I take care of title, pink slip, insurance stuff. I plan on hauling it down to TT&E and junking it. Do I just sign the title over to them?
Also, anyone have a truck and trailer I can borrow, rent, pay you for a trip to Garner?
Any help is great. 2/16/2008 6:39:29 PM |

you could donate it to a local fire department, and write the value off as a donation. we would dispose of it for you after that.
PM if you want to handle this, I could possibly arrange to have it hauled off for you depending on where it is. 2/16/2008 7:36:25 PM |

The only value the car has is as of scrap. It doesn't and won't run, and will do no one any good except for the scrap value. 2/16/2008 7:40:19 PM |

doesn't matter, fd will take it anyway and use it for training or something. i donated a celica to western wake and got some community service written off for it. i just had to "prepare it as if it had been in an accident" which entailed running into it and flipping it over a few times in the parking lot of my shop. they used the jaws of life on it then lit it on fire i think.
if you end up scrapping it, i can probably haul it for you some time. you will need to remove the tires, radiator, and gas tank before tt&e will take it. unless things have changed since i last took something there. 2/16/2008 8:28:14 PM |

I am looking for the cash right now, trying to pay for a cruise. That is why I plan on taking it to TT&E.
Pulling the gas tank and radiator is no problem. Tires can be taken off there or before hand depending on how it is delivered, they just won't take the rubber, and I plan on keeping the wheels anyway. 2/16/2008 8:39:06 PM |
