A drum type ammunition storage system has an outer, stationary drum with two, interlayered, helical partitions; and a rotating core with a plurality of longitudinally extending guides, to provide two helical trains of rounds, each having a first rotational velocity, which are merged to provide a single train having a second rotational velocity which is twice said first rotational velocity. The helical partitions are at a longitudinal angle to the longitudinal axis, to support the rounds at an angle to the longitudinal axis. 2/17/2008 6:05:51 PM |

they work not much differently from a regular magazine, except they do it in a circle instead of a straight line
except for ammo drums on a belt fed weapon, which are basically just a big box to hold the belt. 2/17/2008 9:11:40 PM |

Yeah, it looks quite a bit like the M-249 SAW. I'm interested in knowing if you can string several belts together. Looks like the feeder box may only be able to hold 1 belt.
Toys have come such a long way since the early 80's. It's quite amazing. 2/17/2008 9:12:48 PM |

i don't know how the belts on the toy work, but i would imagine you could string belts together.
on a real belt fed weapon, you can string as many belts as you want together very easily, or break them up into smaller segments. 2/17/2008 9:14:52 PM |

mount each dart inside a hollow copper casing or something? you'd need darts smaller than the chamber of the gun though >.> or do like guns always have and use a standard mechanical clip 2/17/2008 9:19:42 PM |
