He was released by the Bears today. It seems like a logical return, we clearly need a #2 receiver and he didn't really want to leave Carolina at the time.

Haven't seen any speculation yet but I expect it'll be in the works shortly.

He was average his whole stint here with the exception of his contract year when he blew up

But average would be a huge improvement over our other possibilities at the other receiver spot, so I'm all for it

Moose started out great for the Panthers, then hit a funk for a few years before turning in an all-pro caliber season. Of course, when your QB's are Chris Weinke and Rodney Peete, a funk is sort of inevitable.

Wouldn't mind seeing Steve Smith, Drew Carter, Dwayne Jarrett, and Muhsin Muhammad...sounds like a pretty strong receiving corps. His last couple years he's had Grossman throwing to him too, so that can't help you be too productive. But he is 34 now, and will be 35 before the seasons starts.

If Kerry Collins hasn't retired yet, he should come over and join the party too.

[Edited on February 18, 2008 at 8:37 PM. Reason : didn't he retire and then "OOPS, I'm playing for Indy now," or was that someone else?]

as much as the panthers could use muhsin or crumpler, i don't see them being able to afford either, unless they were willing to accept near the league minimum as the panthers have horrible cap problems

when the bears signed him to an 8-year deal, nobody really thought he would play that out. how old was he when he left the panthers? over thirty to be sure

moose would be a great slot/possession receiver.

I think he'd come back at somewhat of a discount too, seeing how he still has a house and does alot of charity work in charlotte.

at any rate we'd still need a bona fide second receiver, unless Jarrett really steps up.
