i've been there SEVERAL times at like 11 pm or so and usually they only have 1 or 2 packets left (if any).
so i imagine they sell out more often that you would think.
but i would think they would trash it.

and ps
i <3 harris teeter sushi.

Grocery stores have large amounts of wastes for items that expire quickly. For example. prepared foods, bakey items and so forth can be donated to food banks, but not sold.

Most is just thrown out, probably like this sushi.

HT has been doing it long enough to know how much to make, probably.

i had an agreement with the manager of a lowes foods back home
whatever sushi was left at the end of the day got thrown away before they closed

so i just went and picked it up every night

i'm pretty sure ALL of them throw it away if it isn't sold that day.

might be worth asking.

They throw the expired stuff out.

However, the HT across the street from me almost always sells out of their sushi on a daily basis.

Shit is good.

i worked at food lion any items that were out of date were pulled in the morning stuffed in the fridge in the break room. it was essentially this is getting trashed in 5 hours buffet it worked very well IMO. Slightly odd tasting bread and coffee for free and no I'm not being sarcastic for some reason i like food the best right before it expires

They make a shitload, but that shit sells out quick late night. If you go at like midnight there is maybe 2 packets left if you're lucky.

Does HT have vegetarian rolls? I've never seen any, but maybe they're just sold out when I go.

I worked at teeter. Their official policy is to throw it away. Most managers hook the employees up with the sushi/chicken/other quickly perishable items.

for the record, most of the sushi sections at harris teeters are subcontracted and are not subject to Teeter's policies.

i worked at lowes food deli for 3 years, it is astonishing how much food they throw away every day. food banks generally come once a week and only pick up bread items.

if you talk to the manager they might hook you up with deals on stuff going out. when i was in hs one of the ladies workin there told me she had a deal with a manager at harris teeter to get bread for 10 cents when it was going out, she didnt eat it but used it to feed the bass and catfish in the pond in her back yard.

around the holidays, people order party trays and some dont get picked up. you can usually get them half off if you ask, but employees have dibs.

I'm working at a grocery store again part time, and they don't give you SHIT anymore. The one I worked at in HS, the deli would bake those pastries and give you one hot from the oven if you were working the morning that they were made. They would mark down whatever else you wanted to eat and put a cheap sticker on it, like $0.50 for a thing of mac and cheese. But no! Not at this place I am working at now!

Went there at midnight on monday and the cashier said she used to make the sushi. I commented that I felt lucky that I was able to find a roll for under 7 bucks seeing as they usually only have the 9-10 dollar rolls left if any. She said that they usually run out of rolls around 9:30.

i used to work there....everything gets thrown away if necessary

any hot food that doesnt sell, or anything else that goes past the date

its a shame when we would throw about 10 perfectly good rotisserie chickens away

the worst is that if they mess something up (like burn some fried chicken) they put it in the break room for the employees so they can have some gross dry burned chicken.
