yeah, unless it's changed, it's kind of a "teaser" track day...just enough to make you want to do a real one. they've been doing it for years.

still, it oughta be great in terms of fun for the dollar!

As duke mentioned, they've been doing that for a while. You have to sign up early on because their slots only allow something like 20 people. At least for VIR.

Its definitely a teaser..... I ride with all the groups at VIR, and once in a while we give up 10minutes so these freebies can be done

I would pay 1000 cash if she could push that bike past 40% .....it aint gonna happen street or track

good thing is....once you hit the track, be prepared to turn your tags in

ehh, well you get my drift.

what i was trying to say is that you arent gonna push it 100%, i forgot that she doesnt have any track experience. if she did, then compared to a real track day its like 3/4 the thrill.

I get your drift...... she just always sounds like some "im all that" whiny squid

once she gets on the track and her asshole puckers up when someone passes her on the strait at 160+ all that bullshit street talk will cease.

all shit talking aside, im glad she's has the nuts to go to the track. The beginner bikes dont have to be prepped like the rest of ours, but be prepared to spend alot on full gear

im sure on a track day you have a lot of wipe outs, im curious if there are a lot on lapping days of people just trying to sneak in a little action and lose it.

Oh please... my goal is to push my bike to its limits... I was pretty stoked when i was riding a 35 mph turn going 80!

Since I have gotten my R6.. .I take it to some of the roads outside of Winston. There are no cars and I get pretty good practice on some of those curvy roads and tryin to keep up with the beu. When I ride with my group, I have no problems keeping up. I keep my distance from the guy in front of me because i am cautious like that..

Besides you aint gotta let your balls get in a bind because some girl decided she wants to expand on her riding skills...

^^i know you swore off street riding...you think you might ever start doing track riding if/when your leg recovers enough to allow it?

^ sure...i think what he's saying is that you likely aren't anywhere near to as close to your bike's limits as you think you are.

...and speaking as someone who learned the hard, expensive way, you don't want to be near the limits on the street.

i've hung 35-mph posted turns at 105-110 with footpegs grinding themselves down to a point...

and even if you're getting it ALL the way leaned over (my buddy r1pimpin has been known to drag a stock R1 exhaust canister)--which frankly is too far for almost all scenarios on the street--that STILL doesn't mean you're riding the bike to anywhere near the limit (i.e., there's more to being fast than big lean angles, although that's a start).

yep, that's the plan. probably get back to some stuntin too. i'm not the least bit afraid of what a bike itself can do to me, it's cars.

^^those first few weeks of nice spring weather are awesome. then come the 95+ days where you get to sit at stoplights on a 200 degree bike above 100 degree asphalt wearing gear. sound hot?

I have already been rocked by a truck... Two weeks later I had a new bike... not another slow ass SV650; I got a 4 cylinder!

And I hate a guy that says I will wreck or I won't be able to hang cause I am a girl... Fuck ya'll!
If I wreck, I'll get another bike. Damn... I aint scared.

Girls get bikes all the time... I have seen girls with liter bikes and they do fine.. I have seen girls (Jessica Maine) do stunts

You people that call people squids are only jealous that you don't have what it takes to go balls to the wall.. Why the hell are you going to get a sport bike if you can't open it up a little and play with danger... If you don't like to speed and take tight turns at 80+, then maybe you should trade your speed demon for a puttin cruiser...

I wear all the much needed gear and prepare to die, but at least I am not afraid to get my adrenaline going.

I don't like to ride in the city where my ass can get rocked my some bitch on a cell phone. I like country curvy roads where its just me and the road. Nothing can compare to the invigorating feeling of being in the country on a nice day. I have never opened my bike to its full capacity. I got it up to 130. It was fun but not my idea of the best way to ride a bike.

whether it be cars or bikes.

once you get on track you will retract that statement.

the hardest part will be trying to to take that 35mph turn on the streets at 200mph.

This immediately makes me think of the first couple of really nice days last year in Maryland... 4 bikers died one weekend in 3 separate wrecks involving stupidity and high speeds.

Dying isn't bad... it's surviving and being incapacitated for the rest of your life that sucks.

I'm not calling anybody stupid, b/c I don't know you personally... I'm just saying people that get excited and really start pushing limits is when stuff goes bad... it's amazing how fast an "oh shit!" moment pops up at 100+ Mph

have you ever reached speeds of 100+ ?

- If you have, you're prolly feeling invincible (which is not a good idea) or you're riding at a speed you're comfortable with and realize that a fuck up and you're fucked up.

- If you haven't, then refer to my other posts about a putzy cruiser. Sportbikes are made for speed and are made for the track

Its being responsible with that speed

I'll be getting on a plane in a week that will go 500+ mph and one fuck up means I will absolutely die. Those individuals are trained to be responsible with that speed...

^^Not on a bike, I've never riden a bike. I've heard the insanely awesomeness described many many times...

but yes, I have wrecked doing 100+ (well lost control at 100+ actual wreck was going into a curb backwards at 70ish) prior to that I did 100 pretty much every day on the same road (remote 4 lane industrial rode with no traffic ever)... I walked away... 1 month later in the rental car I was driving to work and some lady merged into my lane and ran me off the road at 70Mph in highway traffic. I fishtailed, recovered fishtailed, recovered, fishtailed didn't recover ran head first into a gaurdrail bounced back into traffic and manage to not get hit somebody (I believe in God, take it for what you will) walked away from that one, but that one wasn't my fault and after that it took me several months before I was really comfortable behind the wheel again.

^ exactly, if I didn't already have an expensive hobby(wakeboarding) I would probably look into track racing. I love driving, really really enjoy it... and I'm not saying anybody doesn't have skills or guts... I just know what overconfidence and trying too much too soon(when going outa control) will get you...

There is one major thing wrong with this statement: It was on a road with other cars... like the interstate it sounds like. Its pretty dangerous tryin to go those speeds especially around other cars, which you pretty much need to assume that they have driving skills of a 16 year old hoe.

so I was simply saying that that's when people get hurt. YOU asked if I had been 100+, so I said yes, and that I've wrecked at 100+.

I also said that I 100% agree that track days are awesome and it's an excellent time to learn and push your limits... b/c tracks are big and designed to race on.

^ as much as it would suck for her if I died, it would suck worse for her to have to take care of a severly disabled me

I get that feeling all the time.. But Raleigh is prolly one of the worse places to actually go out of control in. Like I said.. there are too many dumb drivers who are in their own little world... I can't even go speed limit without getting stomped into the ground...

I normally head out to Winston Salem or Shady Valley to do my riding...

it's cool to talk shit on message forums about riding fast speeds on public roads, running from cops, and not being afraid of wrecking.......until you have actually experienced the TRUE negative affects of each.

some bruises and a speeding ticket here and there do not count.

that's bullshit that you are prepared to die.

no one should ever say that. especially over a dumb fucking motorcycle. tell ur family that and see if they dont try to check u into dorthea dix.

it's really good to hear that you are going to ride bikes again BigBlueRam, when and if u go stunting let me join yah.

^ whoa there... if your talking to me... I don't want to die, in my simple view: I'm not afraid of dying. I much more afraid of pain and longterm suffering. I nearly died 2x's last year and the thought of me checking out didn't scare me nearly as much as inconviencing everyone around me for the rest of a misserable life.

I got really lucky, realize that I got really lucky, and don't plan on trying that luck anymore. I think it would be awesome to get some track time, but that's the only place those speeds belong.

I'm not talking shit, and I am pointing out negative effects are real and happen from doing shit like this. Both that overconfidence is your worst enemy and that shit happens even when your doing the right thing and it's completely out of your control...

should be mentioned also, that I do FULLY realize how bad it would suck for those that do care about me if I were to die... but they all know I'd be alright on the other side...

AMEN. words of gold in both of those posts.

all i have to say is it's one thing to brag and bullshit about how you'll accept any consequences, you live on the edge, blah blah blah. it's a whole other thing to actually have to face up to those things you've said, pull your dress up, and live through them. would i have rather died the night of my wreck? no. would it have been easier? hell yeah (all debates about the afterlife aside).

personally, i said all the same crap before my wreck. because i believe in backing up the checks your mouth cashes, i've done my best to suck it up and deal with my circumstances. all i'm saying is they're not words or actions to take lightly. shit happens, and it changes your life for good.

am i still willing to suffer physical pain or maybe even death to do things i enjoy that are dangerous? definitely. i feel like i've actually earned the right to say that now. however, there are certainly things i won't do any more and risks i won't take. riding on the street being the number one thing.

Quote :
"Shady Valley"

not a good idea imo. that's a fairly well traveled road from mountain city to johnson city and beyond. it's also been made VERY clear by locals and law enforcement that bikers are not welcome at all. they will bust your ass as hard as they can for any infraction, and have really stepped up patrolling.

oh, and watch out for high speed chases.
