Lately (the last two weeks or so) I have been having nose bleeds almost once a day. They have usually been minor, just bleeding for a few seconds or so. Previous to this I think I've had maybe two nose bleeds my entire life, both times playing soccer. Could this be a sign of something worse?

go to the doctor.

but it's probably just the cold, dry weather. i get them every day around this time of year.
humidifier would help.

soccer = physical exertion = increased BP naturally

could be a high blood pressure issue
could be a dry weather issue (possible but less likely considering when he got them, i've gotten ones like those doing nothing, literally just standing or sitting there)

could be some other issue. the dr. will ask you stuff do a few simple tests, look up your nose and tell you to close your mouth when you breath no really, exhalation moistens your nasal passages when it's this dry

Do you use a humidifier? You can always use saline spray to keep your nose moisturized. Ayr is the best saline spray I've ever used. The gel is great for long plane rides (extremely dry air).

You can also dab a little neosporin inside your nose while you sleep or any time it's dry.

Have you been eating properly and getting enough sleep?

it could also be due to dehydration. drink lots of water and that might help. also if you don't have a humidifier or saline nose spray, put a little water on your finger and [snort] it. it will keep the inside wall of your nose slightly moist and should prevent it from bleeding.

i have had chronic nose bleeds my whole life. i usually get them in my sleep for no reason at all. i've been to an Ear Nose & Throat doctor for them and had my nose cauterized twice. they won't do that anymore so the next step is surgery to try to repair some of the tissue in my sinuses.

there is no reason for my nose bleeds.

you can go to a doctor but the likihood of them telling you why you're getting them is low. however, nosebleeds can be a symptom of a bigger issue so you should go just to get checked out. they'll probably tell you to monitor them and if they get worse to come back.

some people suggested nasal spray and for me personally that makes my nose bleeds worse and more frequent so if you try that and notice an increase, try something else.

good luck. nose bleeds suck.

my ent suggested the neosporin.

it's not to be used everyday. people who do that are idiots and that's who they write papers about.

don't use your dirty fingers, q-tips are great for application.

vics vapo rub up the nose? jesus people are dumb.

I don't get nosebleeds, but I swear, this dry weather gives me a nose full of boogers every morning when I wake up.

ditto to everything NCSUWolfy said, except i had my nose cauterized 4 times as a kid...twice the old fashioned burning way, two other times with the laser

i don't get them nearly as much as i used to (try every night in the winter, and one a week in the summer from the age of 2 until 14)...but i still get them every now and then.

question--proper way to hold your nose when it's bleeding. i wanna see what everyone says

^^ i used to put ice on the back of my neck when i was a kid, not sure what that did...

nowadays i just stick as much of the tissue up into my nose as i can and slightly pinch and slightly tilt back

i know a bleed is over when a huge clot comes out of my nose. they used to be the size of fingers, now they're much smaller

my left nostril is the only one that bleeds now, very rarely do both sides bleed. when i was younger i'd get dual nostril nose bleeds. super hot.

stop picking your fucking nose man!

“And the doctor told me I wouldn’t have so many nosebleeds if I kept my finger out of there!”

“If your nose starts bleeding it means you’re picking it too much…Or not enough.”

Wow, I never imagined there'd be another nose-bleeder out there

I got ROCKED in my nose when I was 5, ruptured a vein permanently. Growing up I had nosebleeds weekly if not more often, but they got better as I quit doing so many high impact sports and stupid things.

Never had my nose cauterized as my ear nose & throat doctor said I could only have it done once and if it ever re-ruptured, I'd have them more often than before. Now I get one only one or twice a year.

Definitely stick a kleenex up there as far as itll go and let sit, then pull out the grossest clot ever. Or you can pinch your nose as high up before the bone as possible for a few minutes, then release. Don't tilt your head back as it'll just keep on bleeding.

i've had bad nosebleeds all my life. i've never had my nose cauterized though.

i was recently diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome which causes dry mouth, nose, eyes, etc.

anyway, one of my friend's dad told me when i was like 8 that if you roll up a piece of a paper towel and stick it under your upper lip, it'll stop the bleeding. i'm not sure why this works but it does for me about 95% of the time. i take a paper towel and cut/rip a strip that's about 1" wide by the length of the towel, then roll it up and you're done. i've also taken a mouth guard (like for sports), cut out the piece that goes in your upper lip, followed the instructions for fitting it, and voila.

it's worth a shot.

oh! they also make these things you put in your nose that expand with fluid (yeah, a nose tampon). i have some but i lost the packaging and i don't remember where they came from. i want to say it was a drug store somewhere. they're flat and the ends are rounded. you cut one in half, stick it up your nose, and it expands as it soaks up blood.
