2 questions that Microsoft's terrible help system have no hints on.

I'm trying to build a template.

1) I added a content control with a drop down box. I want the drop down box to take the selection, and then apply the selected text in fields throughout the rest of the template. That is, I want to have one drop box which puts the same words in several places. Not clear how, thought I had it working, doesn't work now.

2) sort of related: If I have text in a field of type DocProperty from a built in property (Author, title, etc), it updates automatically when the property is changed. If I have a DocProperty field for a custom property, it only updates when you tell it to. How can I make it update all of the fields in the document without having to right click on each field (and without printing)?
