"Daisy
of Grimesland, NC

The first time I saw little Daisy, she was stretched out, snoozing in a young boy's coat--the picture of contentment! She was found earlier that day, abandoned outside the gym of the elementary school where I teach. By the end of the day, no one would take her, so I gave in and brought her home.

Daisy must have been out of her own for a while, because she was weak and very hungry. When I fed her that first evening, she gobbled up her meal like a little piglet, meowing and mumbling to herself the whole time, as if she hadn't ever eaten such delicious food!

She was an amazing kitten, and oh, so sweet! Daisy loved her lovin', and I loved her early morning purrs as we started each day together. She never hissed at visitors, and she loved to play games. Daisy would sometimes run at full speed across the room and jump on my back if I bent down. She also initiated many games of fetch, and was known to play very fairly. If my friend and I would sit on different sides of the room, Daisy would take turns playing with us, fetching first from me, then from her, back and forth, back and forth!

Daisy was a "petite cat," as the veterinarian described her-perhaps because of the leukemia she was born with. She was extremely affectionate, which made it even harder to watch her fight off the different infections she developed. When Daisy was on medication, it would often knock her out, and she'd curl up with me like a little baby and sleep in my arms.

After four months of snuggling and playing and loving each other, Daisy became very sick, and it was time for me to send her back to Heaven. For a long time I had wanted a kitty, and God sent Daisy straight to me. He knew she would need a little extra love and care to survive, and I can't imagine what her life would have been like if she'd been left to struggle on her own. Daisy was more wonderful than I could have expected, and I appreciate greatly that God allowed me the chance of a lifetime to know her and care for her in the short time that she was here."
