No one who knows a shady inspector is going to set you up with him on this website, thats just asinine.
IIRC if your vehicle is over 10 years old, the check engine light shouldn't matter due to lack of emissions requirement. If it is that big of a deal, just find the fuse that powers your dashboard and remove it. As long as it doesn't disable any of the inspectable items, it shouldn't be noticed.
Mind you, if the tech is paying attention, he'll probably catch this, but its an attempt.
