Quote : | "St. Baldrick's is the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family.
At a St. Baldrick's event, something amazing happens. People who normally shy away from the very thought of childhood cancer find themselves compelled to support this cause after looking into the face of these brave children who are smiling broadly as their friends and family members proudly display their newly shorn heads.
Volunteers and donors see it can be fun to support a serious cause. Young cancer patients and survivors see how many people care. And researchers see St. Baldrick's funds helping to find cures!" | ]2/25/2008 8:51:26 AM |

I'll do it.
Is it a real shave (like razor smooth) or just a no-guard clippering? 2/25/2008 8:53:38 AM |

no-guard clippering, but it's pretty close. i always go and get it properly cut afterwards and then let it grow back.
there's a policy against using razors.
i look retarded when bald, but it's for a good cause.
joe numbers is doing it, so everyone should! 2/25/2008 8:56:50 AM |

How does one raise money for this? I go to people and say I'm shaving my head, wanna donate?
I usually go for a #2 or #3 in the summer anyways, so no guard just means I can wait an additional 3 weeks or so before I get another trim 2/25/2008 8:58:31 AM |

sign up on the site
then send an email to everyone you know (i sent one to everyone on my floor at work, mailing lists for school stuff, family email addresses, etc.) with your link in it
they can either donate online or send in a check to the address on the site.
you can also collect cash and bring it in on the day you get it shaved
i usually have a mix of both
gimme your link when you sign up, i'll donate 2/25/2008 9:00:16 AM |
