ok fine, how's this: Bush's inability to coherently speak in public without stuttering and tripping over words presents a couple problems.
1) His public speaking and vocabulary in and of itself should make any rational person question his intelligence. I'm not saying "Bush is retarded" or even "Average people stutter and trip over words when speaking in public, therefore Bush is average". Even is Bush is average in intelligence, I think this is a very bad thing. We elect 1 person every 4 years out of 300 million Americans. Why can we not demand the smartest of the smart to be our leader?

2) Even if his horrible public speaking skills don't represent an overall lack of intelligence and simply indicate that he's not good at public speaking, why is this not a problem anyway? People say "you don't have to be a good speaker to be a good leader." I say, well maybe you don't but it certainly doesn't hurt!. Strong and eloquent public speaking can do more to rally a cause or instill confidence in a population than any amount of legislation can. And once again, out of 300 million people, surely we can find someone who is smart and a good leader and is good a public speaking.

So given those two points, back to your strawman. I've shown that Bush's lack of speaking skills can or do directly impact his ability to effectively lead and govern. What again does Obama playing dress-up while in his father's home country have anything to do with him being elected President?

did you miss the part where I said speaking is only one part of being a good leader? THe other parts include "action". By your own admission, Bush fails on one of those two aspects. I contend he fails on both of them.
My point is, I don't see why it would be so hard to find someone that can excel in both of those aspects. There's no point we have to settle for an illiterate conehead who may or may not get things done. As long as he's "getting things done", he might as well be able to speak well too.

kind of where i am starting to fall; for some reason i have been watching more coverage on this election than usual and they all say the same things in different ways. whatever the people they are speaking to want to hear. dems want to hear barack and hillary say the war will be over so they say it regardless of if they can really make it happen to the extent that they say they can or not. if you go back and look at every president that got elected i would guarantee that 95% of the stuff they promised would change doesn't really change all that much.

Obama has a great team of marketing dudes, and he has a great use of slogan - that's a TRIBUTE to his campaign, not a pan or should we ever suggest that is the 'magic' that he is duping us with.
