I remember him from his Hornets days. He gave them a few good seasons. I used to have a shirt with him, mugsy, and kendall gill on it. ahhh the memories!

i remember listening to tony kornheiser's radio show when he was just a columnist with a local radio show, WTEM 570 AM. he was always calling him "the incandescent rex chapman"

I remember he played for the hornets, and I had a bunch of his basketball cards (because they were worthless so most packs were full of them), and I remember calling him T-Rex Chapstick when I was young.

haha

Yeah, I was always him, Dan Marleje, or Larry Bird; as a white kid they were among the only players I could identify with.

Chapman was a throwback JJ Redick...Great shooter but not much else for the NBA game.

^Not really. He was probably the best white dunker of all time. I'm pretty sure JJ didn't throw one down until his senior year. He also averaged 14.6 PPG in the NBA. Redick is averaging 3.6 PPG in the NBA.

Chapman had a sick dunk one year in a Slam Dunk contest. Tom Chambers is the sweetest white dunker ever.

I knew someone would bring him up. He had some good throw downs back in the day, but I don't think he was as good as a game dunker as Chapman. He just never had the explosion Chapman had. He was extremely long and able to take off from a long way away. More of a Clyde the Glide type of dunk than a power dunk. I guess it comes down to which type you prefer.

um, excuse me, Rex Chapman could do everything. He was Reddick before Reddick, he was Barry before Barry, and he did all of this standing 5'6" (it seemed like)
