So I'm on the phone with tech support and I get a dude with a heavy Indian accent. For the life of me, I cannot understand what he is saying. Is it rude to simply say, "sorry, I can't understand what you're saying. Please transfer me to another representative?"

And then, if he replies with a comment/question (still can't make out the words) rather than just make the transfer, what are you supposed to do?

I think that's perfectly acceptable. Although, I'm too much of a pussy to do something like that, so I would have just made up an excuse to leave.

IDK, hang up, call back, and hope for someone who was outsourced to Britain?

theyre underpaid outsourced indians who speak english at about the level of my dog--whoever you're calling tech support for needs to know that their plan to outsource tech support has failed

If they're so sensitive that their feelings will get hurt by someone not understanding their accent, they have no place working in any sort of customer support capacity

I'm against corporations outsourcing to save a dollar anyway. Importing bullshit from China and outsourcing is what's wrong with this country anyway; part of it...

it isn't rude at all because you genuinely couldn't understand the person

if you were just racist and pissed off that it was an indian person and didn't want to talk to them just because they were indian, that would be rude.

Companies are required to transfer you to someone who speaks English if you ask them.
