check out this guy's previous thread that I sort of crapped all over if you're considering this
message_topic.aspx?topic=511999
I was teaching in Seoul when he started that thread, and now I'm back in Raleigh because my employer wouldn't honor the contract. I'm not saying that's typical of the situation, but there are lots of things to watch out for. PM me if you want to know more. 3/3/2008 12:52:12 PM |

Yes, graduating is required FEDERAL. you must have a bachelors in any degree.
Legatic, I didn't realize that you crapped on me, but thanks for the input. And, sorry to hear that you got screwed by the "school" you were working for. If you had done your research before flying to the other side of the world, the chances of that happening would have been minimal.
It sucks that you had a bad experience in Korea, but the fact is that there are over 30,000 teachers from the west teaching in Korea. The new president wants to hire 23,000 more teachers with in the next couple of years.
Some of the teachers have bad experiences, especially those that don't know their rights, but the others are having an amazing time. If your employer didn't follow the contract you should have gone to the Ministry of Education and Immigration and reported them. Getting a free lawyer which you could have found in the Korean Herald - an English newspaper- wouldn't have hurt your case.
We are hiring for Korean public schools, not the mom-n-pop hogwans that go out of business every 2 years. The wages are paid by the government through the schools. 3/4/2008 12:00:37 AM |
