I am looking for software that will allow me to upload a list of locations and will then divide them into a user defined amount of groups based on travel time (or geographic location). So for example if I have 200 locations, I want to be able to say I want 20 groups of 10 locations and have something look at the locations and determine those groups based on travel time or distance.

So far I'm not finding anything that is already out there that doesn't do way more than I need and therefore cost a lot.

Does anyone know of software that does this?

Or is there anyone that would be interested in writing something like this? If so just send me a pm.

i have already googled

this is what I am looking for:

I import a list of locations (csv or excel by address or lat & lon)
I select how many locations in each group
The software figures out how to group the locations so the drive time or distance between the locations in each group is minimal

I already have a good route optimization process, I just need to optimize deciding how to break down the routes.

You can do this with ESRI GIS software ($$$ unless you're a student), but I'm not sure if any of the open source (free) applications will do this.

Its not something that I absolutely need, just something that would save me a lot of time and trouble. Are you interested, do you think you have a good way to do it? What kind of time frame were you thinking? you can pm me if you think its something you are interested in, i have my ideas on how to do it but im not sure if they would work

I've seen several applications that do exactly what you are asking for, but they are all enterprise level commercial applications, and retardedly expensive and very unlikely anything good will have web available demos.

you call $100 "not too expensive"?

for business purposes, that's stupid cheap.

if it sounds good to you I don't see why you wouldn't try that first before contracting someone to build something for you (or even wasting the time to look any further)

i never said $100 was the too expensive mark, i said that at $100 it is not too expensive

and i didnt like the demo, the price isnt the problem with that
