does anyone do this? i was thinking about it because i have a meeting before work today that's going to make me run up to maybe an hour late. knew about it yesterday and forgot to mention it.
wouldn't be a big deal if i just strolled in late, but i like to give the courtesy call.
so, at least for me, when you call and get the voicemail of the person you were calling, its like WOOHOO cause for some reason you feel like you're doing something wrong. and you can just leave the message and say "got somewhere to be before i come in. i'm gonna be running late. call me if you need to, bye"
so yeah my call about being an hour late got me thinking about emailing in sick. ha ha
does anyone actually use email to call in sick or late? that seems like you shouldnt be able to, cause part of calling in sick is the SHAME!!!1 3/5/2008 7:28:56 AM |

I always use email, never actually called in to say I wouldn't be there or would be late. 3/5/2008 7:33:30 AM |

you jinxed yourself by replying! plus if youre sick, no one cares. i know i always hate people who come in coughing all over the place and shit
ive never had to call out, except maybe once a couple months ago when i got the flu or whatever that was. but it seems like i "got lucky" and had that peak over a weekend. seems like i didn't miss any time over it. but ive had to go to the doctor and dentist and crap like that. but i dont think its a bad thing to call out sick.
especially since: - it seems like most people call out at least once every few weeks. lazy fuckers!!! (thats funny coming from me!) - lots of places give you like an extra 8 hours every month. so they seem to expect it
but i'm not the type to say i'm sick (even in casual conversation) unless i really feel like death.] 3/5/2008 7:56:14 AM |

if i have errands to run in the morning, i'll tell my boss the day before either in the hallway/pop into his office and tell him or email or instant messenger but always the day before. if i am sick , i call my boss in the morning and tell him i am sick and that i am not coming in. 3/5/2008 8:35:29 AM |

haha, i asked about the policy of emailing in sick. they will reply back to you and tell you that it is not acceptable.
essentially, they will read your email, know that you are sick, know that you just told them you arent coming in, and then they will send it back and say it doesn't count and that you better call and do it official.
that's pretty awesome. i'd be fucking pissed if i were the boss and i got emails at 15 till saying someone is too sick to come in. 3/5/2008 6:36:12 PM |
