No
Maybe after I've got a FT job, instead of three PT ones, and actually will have time to use it

I don't wanna spend the money on a haircut, and we both have hair too pretty to be ruining it with bye and bleach.

Ooh ooh I have a good idea w/ what to do with the money. Live as frugally as you were before, making minor concessions for things that you REALLY REALLY wish you could've enjoyed before, then dump the rest of the money into a high-yield savings account and wait until you've got enough to live off of for about 6 months before using more of your current income for expenses/fun.

It's my plan right now, though I'm currently in the frugal stage and trying to drift until summer (where I hope to get a good research job with my department). Not having money sucks so much that I'm just going to live for a good while like I don't have any until I have some big savings/a full time salaried position. Then I'll relax a bit.

Oh, no.

Step one: pay off my debt
It's not a lot, but dammit, it bugs me!

Very laudable. This should be what everyone does, but do they? No.

Eh, well I just don't want to have to economize on groceries like I am right now. A large portion of my budget goes to peanut butter and jelly sammiches, lulz.

When the budget gets this low I can make a lot of decisions that most people wouldn't make.

coupons, dude.

They really make a difference.

[Edited on March 7, 2008 at 2:18 PM. Reason : If you want, I'll go with you to Costco so you can get some other stuff for $RI]

^^ I use mommy and daddy for that right now (BJ's, Costco, Sam's). They're in Cary so it makes it a bit easier.

I haven't fallen into the coupon shopping habit yet, but I'm headed that way, haha.

Gotcha.

My folks used to have sam's, but they're dropping it for costco.

Coupons are FTW. Srsly.

^It really adds up. See the coupon thread in the lounge.

Also helpful is that I avoid using my debit card whenever possible. Since one of my jobs pays cash every shift, I keep a bit of cash out for day-to-day stuff, and live off that. What's in my checking account is marked for bills.

It's a lot more painful to hand over the cash that I can put a date, time, and place to when I earned it than it is to hand over my debit card
