We've spoken with Triad Telecom but there rates are just laughable, anybody know of some other reliable VoIP providers?

The only local ones I know of are:

FeatureTel.com
Bandwidth.com

we use SIP trunks from bandwidth.com at our office.

In general you will need to use a T1 to get any guarantee of reliable service, which is expensive if you are comparing it to a cheap product like vonage or packet8.

We have our own PBX Server.

FeatureTel - Requires you get a T1 from them, very expensive
Bandwidth.com - Currently discussing pricing
Verizon Business - Requires you get a T1 from them, very expensive

By the way, the PBX server is an Asterisk server.

I have to so I have been very happy with featuretel. Jon Carnes over there is awesome, provides a great service. Might have some costs there, but I have had him personally deliver gold plated ethernet cables to our server room, just to make sure issues weren't on out end.

We're gonna try one of these out with verizon some time soon. All I remember about the pricing is that the model is fucking stupid.

But in theory if we use a sip router we can get rid of the t1 cards in our asterisk servers. Which would be cool. Although we could do the same thing by plugging some t1s into a media gateway.

I have 6 lines through Primus http://www.primustel.com and they're pretty reliable. We use a talkswitch http://www.talkswitch.com with 4 lines of VOIP and 2 of the analog trunks connected to one of primus' ATA's.

$39.99/mo + taxes unlimited us/canada, reasonable intl rates.

They also offer a $15/mo plus .04/min metered plan.

They own a lot of their network (I don't really know what %) and actually terminate calls for Vonage.

We also have FIOS (here in Tampa) provisioned at 20/5Mbps, so I don't have to fuck around with a T1 cramping my style.

We went with Bandwidth.com

Installation wasn't bad, just their support team is a bunch of idiots, wondering why I was having trouble.
*I need to know the host IP address.
*The what?
*You're a support tech right?
*Yeah why?
*How do you not know your own IP address?!?
*Well it varies for each customer
*You're kidding me, right
*I'm going to have an engineer call you back, they should call within 48 hours
* `slams head on desk`

The sad part is that was a real conversation.

To add insult to injury they can't seem to properly process a credit check so we don't have international calling yet!
