i dont think that the tech/gadgets section of msn.com really counts as "news"

at all

actually it appears that this was originally published in PC world magazine. which also doesn't count as news.

i mean those places might be good for tech news, but of course internet trolls are gonna make the internet news.

ok let me dumb it down a bit.

you are implying that this is somehow interesting or something because it "made the news" - but in the traditional sense, "making the news" refers to something that was talked about in a normal newspaper or television news outlet, like N&O or WRAL... or CNN..

there's no doubt that you posted a "news article", but the fact that it is a site devoted to "tech news" means that this isn't a big deal at all. it's actually something you'd expect from such a site. its kinda like saying "omg cary made the news"... if it's on CNN, then thats kinda neat. if its WRAL, its just another bunch of nothing.

so i guess what i should have said is.... "i don't get it, its not like they were talking about this on the real news. what are you trying to get at here?"

news comes in all forms.

News of your death = nobody gives a shit but its still NEWS.
News from a family member = NEWS
news on CNN.com = NEWS
online article about the internet = NEWS

two of these belong under "the news" and two of them don't. I'll let you sit here for a while and decide which two. If you get it right, I'll give you a cookie...ok?

ha funny this thread is about trolls, you're definitely one of the best

but the fact remains, i don't understand why this is a big deal. i'm not disputing that this is presented as "news", and i'm not saying that PC world can't be considered "the news".

if it were on the CBS national news tonight, i would get a chuckle maybe... since its internet crossing over into real life. but an article on the internet, about the internet. im just not seeing what you were trying to say with this thread.

what i am asking is, why are you posting it for us to see? usually when someone says that something "made the news" its either something important/funny, or something that you wouldn't expect to see in the news
