I didn't want Herb gone, not because of any of his merits, but just because I didn't think we could do any better. Well, we can't really do any worse than Lowe at this point, so why not? Ax the fucker and start over.

dude, give it up ... herb got 10 goddamn years. I don't know anyone proposing a 8 year extension on Sid's contract. He gets 1 more year to make drastic improvements and then we cut the fat if he doesn't.

i personally think any college coach, be it basketball or football (i cant really comment on other sports) deserves 4 years...by the end of their 4th season, pretty much all their freshmen and sophomores will be their own players, and some of their juniors...you can not only see what kind of coach the guy is, but what kind of coach they are with THEIR players recruited for THEIR system

^ Agreed... only I think a football coach needs longer. I think 6-8 is about right for them. You should show improvement, but not expect to be a 'decent' program after 4 years.

It sends the message that if you do a terrible job, embarass the fanbase and people who donate money to the program that you're going to be shitcanned.

This is how jobs in the real world work too. If you embarass your employer and do your job poorly, you're going to get the boot.

It's one thing to have the ridiculous expectations that we should be a national contender every year. It's another thing to have the expectation that fans not be ashamed to watch us play.
