so DonkeyButt,H8R,SpeedFreak and I drove up to around wilmington to pick up our new rallyX car. 1995 toyota corolla. light brown in color. 75K miles. hit in the front (ran into a jeep), so its above the bumper.

we will track our progress with this thread.

H8R and Donkeybutt removed the busted radiator and all the broken crap has been cleaned out (headlights, fans/shroud, randmn plastics.)

we will continue to work tomorrow.

trying to get it ready for next weeks event. pictures will be up soon.

we are gonna dolly it to the events

Ivan, the airbags have been deployed since last summer when my little brother hit a parked car

the ol' "shoestring caught on the gas pedal" scenario

you know, that happens to everyone, right?

we just took it out for a little test spin and before we got it out of the neighborhood, p0p0 cruised by

we immediately headed back to the garage

i've got a set of gravel/sand rated rally TARS if ya'll be interested. $free, i just want them back when derby time comes again (next fall). if you trash one racing, no problem. just try to keep street miles off of them as much as possible.

you need some cibie's. straight old school lighting.

an AW11 is a horrible choice for a rally event

you'll be the only RWD out there (there's probably a reason for that)

but good luck

car is up and running. clutch has to "break in" .

just gotta swap the radiator out. one year warranty FTW. its been maybe 2 months since we've had it.

on of the fan shroud bolts was too long and nicked the plastic of the radiator causing a small leak. it doesnt leak much, but when i back the bolt out it comes out, still not a lot.

but advance was cool and said to just bring it in. just gotta clean it up a bit

we had our 3rd event last sund.

it was good. bad part is we de-beaded twice in one heat, caused us to pretty much end our race (race ended as we were trying to fill 'er up)

next race is June 7th. should be better.

re-enforced the steering wheel. and got some nice rubber.

just gotta get tubes for our tires and we are pretty much ready.

^^big time ruts (1st de-bead)

and not properly re-inflating our tires to around 45psi (electric air compressor wouldnt kick it past 35 psi, plus were were in the middle of the heat, so we didnt have a lot of time) (2nd de-bead)

liquid nails on the bead, then seat the tire. you might want to keep a spare set of rims though, those tires aren't coming back off. tubes are good and probably all you need, but if you do cut one down you still have the problem of the wheel spinning inside the tire or it coming off the bead/rim and getting wadded up in the fender locking up a wheel.
