This discussion can exclude those of a different faith. But what is the reasoning for the rest of you to not be in church this morning?

I don't want this discussion to devolve into letting self-righteous/zealous/pseudo-intellectual atheists to cum all over each other attempting to destroy the idea of God.

Just in a sentence or two, tell me why you aren't in church this morning. Are you not a practicing christian? Did you get angry at your religious parents and decide to rebel forever? Did you have a bad experience and blame God?

Wraith brings to mind something I've thought about before.

Often times, especially around the holidays, you may have some new faces around the dining table. If grace is said, I appreciate tolerant and respectful people. Sure if you are not of the Christian faith, I do not ask you to bend your beliefs, but perhaps you could hold hands, close your eyes, and just wish well upon the friends and family you are lucky to have around you that day.

The family dinner table is not the place nor time to express that you read a lot of Nietzsche, and its only holding hands and closing your eyes, not the fucking spanish inquisition.

i was raised atheist. mom's grandfather was an over zealous hypocrit preacher which pushed her father away from religion...dad just never did it.

It's sad how some people can have such negative experiences with religion. I feel sorry your mother was subjected to that. I invite you to still give it a shot, put your foot in the pool and see if you can find something of meaning. After all, we hear all about religious fanatics on the news today, but I feel by connecting with our faith and committing ourselves to most religions' message of peace can go a long way towards bringing us together.

jesus was a jew....he probably didnt really talk to god, he, just like most jews, wanted money...so he thought of this idea on how he talked to "god" and made everyone called "christians" etc etc etc....anyway, this is concrete proof that religion is all fake

i was watching tv the other day and this commercial on protestants came on history channel...sounds like protestants are the coolest religion...it said its about having a personal relationship with god and not worrying about all those stupid traditions(like not eating meat on fridays before easter)
