But I'm afraid I'll get addicted and not leave my domicile for 10 days. Same thing happened to me with 6 of the last 10 Final Fantasies.

Should I play and join the 10 Million Users who are already on?

OR

[insert oligatory "getting laid" joke here, I'm too lame to think of one right now]

it took me a couple months when i first started playing to manage my time with it

i never played any RPG until i picked up wow

i was only into console sports games. its pretty lame, but its very addictive

as long as you can get up and go outside when you need to you would be OK

Yeah you can get quite a bundle of cash for that kinda stuff. I'm not sure how much time input it takes to get a character that is powerful enough to sell. I knew a guy when I was a freshman who sold his Everquest character for $600.

I've never played.

I do have a friend that builds and sells characters. Of course I pick on him, but I don't mean it. You gotta make your hustle somehow.

It's kind of like the people that build myspace profiles, get really popular, and then sell it I guess

That could easily take from about 6 months to a year or more to make, assuming you could get run-thru's with a group that was already very powerful, had no competition for gear, lucky ass drops, and no life. A 2k creation is pretty much the pinnacle of what you can make in the game, I would guess (in WoW speak, full tier 6). *feel free to correct me

Like the gimp says, ff you have absolutely nothing to do, then try it out...but you'll probably regret it later anyway, lol. I played mostly when I was in Richmond, had no friends, and was too young to go down town (20 ftl).

but like, what do you do?

do you just "meet in the village" and then talk to other creatures and shit? and then try to run game on some elvyn chick?

when you get a crew together do you go on some cool "quest"? all i ever see are creatures standing around or running for what seems like forever

yeah, people do that with myspace

there are also services for myspace patrons where you can pay for your friends. These "friends" are good looking people that will visit your profile and write on your wall...some shit like that. All to make you look more popular.

I would shoot myself in the head if I ever got involved with something like that.

btw, does anyone want to buy the TWW username EMCE from me? Bidding starts at $700

"but like, what do you do?"

when you start out, you get missions (quests) that involve going out and killing creatures or people. When you kill stuff or complete a quest you get XP. Get enough XP and you level up, get stronger, get new attacks, etc. As you do these quests and kill stuff, you get better pieces of armor and weapons to better kill.

Getting higher in level, you get group quests that involve working together with other people to kill some bigger monster or group of monsters. Once higher in level you can group together (5 people) and start going to dungeons, which are zones filled with very strong creatures. There are multiple bosses in these places that require a lot of coordination and working together to kill, but they drop powerful armor and weapons.

So, you play, you get better items to kill bigger stuff, which gives more powerful stuff, etc. That's the addictive part of WoW.

When you get to max level (70) you are primarily concerned with fighting in raid dungeons, which need 10 or 25 people to clear successfully (depending on the dungeon) and drop really powerful items. These bosses of course requires a ton of coordination and it often takes weeks to learn how to kill one boss. Once you have that boss down, you move onto the next until you can clear the dungeon...then you move onto the next raid! Harder dungeons, better loot.

That's the part I quit, the group I ran with basically sucked and it wasn't fun anymore.

I'll be someone's friend on myspace for $5 per week. Included in my $5 package is one generic message a week to make you look super popular. If you go for my gold package which is reasonably priced at $10 per week, I will write something on your wall each week that includes your name so it looks personalized and like we hang out in real life. The platinum package, is $15 per week and if you have to ask what it includes, you can't afford it.

its alot easier to just make your profile private

^^^^^^ exactly. While I was still in school I played for hours a day in between classes and boozing and it got kind of out of hand, but now that I have a 70 I can just run around and destroy people for fun. Just as, if not more entertaining than any fps that I have played online.

it didnt take him nearly that long - the accnt has to still be 'ladderable' or something when you sell it for it to be worth anything. he has a groupe of ppl that all make new characters and sell them - they run around with a group of powerful dudes, and hook up a new character in that manor.

yeah, i guess if you have a dedicated group it wouldn't take that long...I'd be interested in seeing what it was.

i was looking at this account that was sold in the entertainment section and estimating the amount of work that must've gone into it and what people said it was probably worth (both on tdub and off)
