I can think of 3, although 222 Glenwood is only 5 or 6 stories. There were a lot more planned, but every asshole started doing presales at the same time when the downtown market peaked, so a good number of them were cancelled. Hell, The West at North (the 15 story one on West St) has sold less than half of its 150 condos at this point. I looked at the preconstruction prices and they were just absurd. At this point I'm really tempted to go in a low ball the hell out of them on a mid-range unit and see what they say.

What cracks me up is that everyone who lives outside of 440, but near North Hills, now claim that they live in "Midtown". The last time that I ate at Vivace I actually saw a stack of some new publication about "Midtown Living". Basically its an easy out for people who don't want to say "I live near the mall" or "I live in North Raleigh".

Ok...so the thing partially blocking the Clarion is the proposed Reynolds Tower, the RBC tower with its' "dunce cap" is in the middle there, and there are several 20-ish buildings down by the convention center. But what about the Edison? I thought, from a thread I saw on urbanplanet, that it's a done deal and will be in the 30+ floor category...the parking deck is currently under construction I think.

And while I do agree that they might not have picked the best possible place to put the Soleil, flooding won't be that big an issue. Tower foundations are deep enough to not be bothered, of course, and as I understand the first several floors of the tower will be parking. So there's not much to be damaged when the floodwaters do come.

The soleil center is out of money still. We took a field trip out there a year ago when they were working on the foundations. They're still not out of the ground.

The Edison is still planned I believe. The company I worked for two summer's ago had the subsurface investigation for it. Something is in the mix still though.

Green Square is the next big "sky-scraper" for downtown Raleigh. https://portal.ncdenr.org/web/greensquare/webcam The company I'm with designed the foundation and shoring wall for the site. I'm out there every other day or so for concrete testing now. I got to go out there tomorrow actually. It's got two or three levels of underground parking, then 5 to 6 stories on one side, and 9 on the other side.

Construction stopped on Soleil due to a lack of financing. I don't think the developer has completely given up yet, but it's pretty much dead as I understand it. So you have a bunch of footings built to hold a 40-story building that will probably get used for something much less impressive.

Not sure about the status of the Edison.
