I've gotten into saying "Curses" and calling people "Wretches"

more imaginative and acceptable than dropping f bombs et al in public

Curse words are great, but they lose their impact when used too frequently. I like it to mean something when I say "you fucking moron." If people say it all the time then I have to find a different way to express those sentiments with the same impact. The sad thing is- there just aren't too many ways to say things like that with the same impact and efficiency. Sure you can say it more eloquently, but it's hard to capture the emotion that the dropping of customary civility expresses. Also, half the time someone thinks they sound eloquent they're actually coming across as condescending and pretentious. It's too easy to shrug of the disapproval of a pretentious, condescending prick.

Anyways, the point of this disorganized rant is that there's nothing wrong with profanity. Save it for when it's more pointed rather than using it all the time. I'm not saying this because I think you should avoid offending people. Hell, that's one of the best reasons to use profanity- to cause offense in those who are offended unreasonably and arbitrarily by words that do not demean them in any logical sense. Outside of that though, I'd like my curse words and profanity to keep its oomph. Don't do to "fuck" and "cock-sucker" what newscasters have done to "literally."

I say motherfucker all the time as a pronoun

Instead of "he defecated" I'll say "that motherfucker took a shit"

But when I use fuck as an adjective I like to emphasize it

I hate it when people keep the same tone when saying fuck as they do with the rest of their sentence

Its a special word; treat it as such
