This is what obama said trying to explain why he threw his grandmother underneath the bus with Wright. Read Carefully, this is the same candidate that says he bridges race that he can unite them. Well with words like this he his just proving that he believes in what Wright preaches and he himself is a racist:
From a interview with a Philadelphia Radio Station:
"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity, but that she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know (pause) there's a reaction in her that doesn't go away and it comes out in the wrong way." 3/25/2008 3:39:02 PM |

its the double standard of race in our country...currently (at least in the public political forum...i'm not talking about Charlie Goodnight's) its only acceptable to stereotype the white race...you know cause some of them are rich and powerful...regardless of whatever type of equality nonsense the country is supposed to be about (now i'll wait for someone to tell me how much I've done to fuck up equality...since I'm white and all so therefore I probably personally oppress minorities on a daily basis)]3/25/2008 4:09:04 PM |

I don't see anything overtly racist in what Obama is saying there. Then again, I don't get what the fuck he is trying to say anyway. Not enough context to say either way, really. What would a "typical black person" do when seeing someone he doesn't know on the street?
I can see the "outrage" at "typical white person," given that it is stereotyping and it is the kind of statement that would generally get the NAACP all riled up, regardless of what the actual content is. But still... I'm not seeing it... 3/25/2008 4:22:48 PM |

Well, you see, this Obama fellow happens to be both black and white.
Whereas both McCain and Clinton happen to both be just white.
Speaking in stereotypes about a population you don't belong to is generally frowned upon.

He said
1) My grandmother is not racist 2) My grandmother is a typical white person 3) Therefore, typical white people aren't racist 4) All people in today's society have hang ups about race 5) Sometimes said hang ups manifest themselves in nonconstructive ways.

I don't remember the exact context here, but I did watch his speech this came from. The thing that made the speech unique was that he actually acknowledged the differences we have, and how there's still crap and racist shit in a whole crapload of places around the nation. The kind of stuff an ordinary politician wouldn't touch with a 40 foot pole.
I thought it was a good speech. WTG Republicans for cherry picking phrases to distract attention away from the point.

Why would I vote for someone who says one thing because I expect the opposite to happen?
Their record isn't that bad. I would say that the probability of something happening is slightly shifted towards it happening by like 5% maybe, if it was included in campaign promises of the elected president.
Bottom line: It's still slightly advantageous to vote for the person who promises to do what you want to see done.
