Okay so I really don't need to lose a lot of weight but it wouldn't hurt to shave a few pounds off for this summer and get back into shape. So I am trying to help my wife who is on a huge diet/exercise kick after post pregnancy. So both of us are trying to eat a bit healthier, slow our eating habits (put down the fork and enjoy your food), and eat what we enjoy but in moderation. (Based off of some show she watched on TLC or something)
So the reason I posted was I wanted to see what other thought about Drinking and Eating at the same time. According to my wife and other websites it's not good to eat and drink at the same time. Mainly because it flushes the food down and compresses it and/or flushes it out of your system too quickly for your body to absorb the proper nutrients. It also prevents your body to notify you when you are full if you drink and eat.
My wife and I had a good discussion about this and I see her point. She gave the example of the eating contests where they use water to soften up the buns so they could eat more. I never thought about it but that's true and I can sort of see that drinking water or any drink while eating could make you eat more food by compressing the food in your stomach. I'm probably going to ask my doctor next time I see him what he thought. What are your thoughts? 3/26/2008 11:26:40 AM |

huh
if you want to not over eat. just eat slower. drink whatever you want.
and stay active.
they dip their bread in water because its easier to eat, its like eating goo instead of solid bread.
it doesnt make you eat more, if anything, it should make you eat less
