I am glad she is going to do the right thing and not drive home, I don't mind being a DD, but there has to be a closer bar to home that has cheap beer.

I used to hate driving from where I lived around campus all the way to my parents in Wakefield. It would invariably be during rush hour and would take me over an hour...

Well, north raleigh blew up and there is no North-South highway... and now thousands of people live in Wakefield and Falls of the Neuse is fucking one lane once you get past Strickland.

It's a mess and 540 doesn't help at all considering it's still a 5 mile drive north from there.

^^ It's been Pipers for a long time. I used to meet my folks for happy hour dinner there all the time when I was at State..

I grew up on Johnsdale Rd, back before north Raleigh had a mall. The only thing where that mall was is that shit K-mart that still looks like it did when I was a kid.

i go 440 to six forks, cut onto sandy forks and get on falls from sandy forks. turn into north ridge.

that might be a bit quicker. during the day its a toss up with traffic and lights.

I don't have any idea what Raleigh was like before all the North Raleigh residential development. I bet it was really rural which is why traffic is so bad now. I moved in '00 and it was getting built up then. I never really LIVED up there, but I would always have people over cuz my folks had a nice setup with the pool/hottub and always had tons of alcohol we could drink...

I miss it.. want to move back to N. Raleigh when I'm out of grad school.

The only drawback to moving back to NC is I don't want my future kids going to public school in North Carolina. I know that might sound elitist but I went in Connecticut and my little brother in North Carolina and the quality of education was like night and day...

i went to public school in NC. i actually graduated from FUQUAY-VARINA high school, one of the most bumfuck places in the state.

and i think i got a pretty good education. its not the quality of the school, its the quality of the students brain.
