A new car is the worst investment you could possibly make.

House.

Obligatory nonsequitur

was looking into getting a house but decided i wanted to live in the area for a while before deciding to buy there (work in waynesboro, va...was looking to buy there, but currently rent in charlottesville)

ideally, you'd want your mortgage to be around the current amount of rent you pay (or lower), that way you don't have to change your lifestyle, but still get the "upgrade" of a house.

its possibly the best time to buy a house.....lowest possible interest rates!

well and the car does not cost much(compared to a house) so you might end up with both!

If I ever did it was because I got boxed in behind someone without being able to change lanes and had to deccelerate to a dangerous speed.

if you have the money, right now is the BEST time to buy a house. GO FOR THE HOUSE and possibly some LAND if you can.

Yes yes yes. Buy land.

Just outside city borders. Cities grow, and once they expand to include your land, it's mad $texas.
