what hes saying is that clothing isn't acceptable at this time of year. seersucker shouldn't really be worn quite yet, and madras should be saved for later as well. hence the "its march" aspect. this stuff typically should be held off until after memorial day as well, but is fine as early as late april due to things like carolina cup, foxfield, the derby, etc....

thats the point he was making.

he addressed kanye cause hes the only other black man- as far as i know- that dawns such apparel

its not, really.

its almost a month out from reasonable seersucker season

is your friend's wedding at the beach?

otherwise you'll look dumb

Agent 0 is the authority on this stuff. it is indeed too early right now for that sort of garb...

i have a wedding to attend in Houston on April 20th. its generally humid down there and should be close to 80 degrees, so i'm going to jump the gun on the Memorial Day rule for that occasion.

no one adheres to these dumbass rules anymore. i mean don't wear seersucker in march, but i'm sure april 26th would be ok.

i wore a white skirt around to do errands today motherfuckers. take that, outdated southern fashion rule.

yes. but i'm assuming that places below Delaware will be warm on april 26th. when is it warm enough to wear seersucker in delaware...like july

AND i just remembered i wore a seersucker dress last night out. but it was not the blue and white striped seersucker. it was black, just seersucker material. jcrew sells them year-round. gasp....what a fashion faux pas.

the practical reason for wearing seersucker has much more to do with humidity than heat

yea it is. but its something my mother still comments on. and i don't think the man in the pants was going to a wedding or formal occasion. but we still didn't like his choice of style.

old men at my church wore seersucker on easter sunday. and my church is probably about as ITB old money as you can get in raleigh. so, i think the "rule" is a lot looser than it used to be.

its a full seersucker suit, so really in situations like that it isn't about the humidity- albeit that was its initial purpose- as much as it is just fashion. a seersucker suit will be entirely appropriate and if its in the 80's i'll definitely rock it, especially since foxfield is right around then

"Seersucker is still widely worn in the South between Easter weekend and Labor Day, where it is often accompanied by a bow tie. Easter can come too early to wear seersucker since Confederate Memorial Day (The 4th Monday in April) is considered the actual appropriate time for this style of dress. When worn in the North, typically the last Monday of May is considered the beginning of the appropriate time for the region. It is widely considered a fashion faux pas to wear seersucker at the wrong time of the year."
