He has been there awhile, is loyal, and has obviously built up a winning program. Do we have any chance in hell of landing him once we fire Lowe? I know people will ask why he would not leave a small program for a bigger one, but it has happened before on a bigger scale. Schiano turning down Michigan to stay at Rutgers...WTF? And I know Lowe is still our coach, but he will be fired soon enough, don't deny it please. Do we have a chance?

and his name is Bob McKillop, not "Davidsons coach"

He can recruit, he can put together a winning team. He can win, he can make the e8. All of this in the god for saken Southern Conference no less. What else do you want from a potential candidate?

Probably not, a ton of programs have gone after Bob McKilop already and have failed. I doubt he would leave now, he is like Jim Larranaga at George Mason. He is comfortable where he is and it would have to be some special program and opportunity to pull him away now.

Thats funny, according to some people on here it seems, we are one of those most special programs that all coaches want to scramble to get. One of the founding members of the ACC and 2 national championships. What else could this guy want out of a big time program?

if i were loved by 100% of my school's fanbase and realized i didnt have any lofty expectations to live up to and that i'd already taken the program to its greatest height ever, i'd definitely jump ship to a school where the fans beg for their coach to be fired after every single loss

He's like 58, he wouldn't be bringing Curry with him, and he's a family man. (doesn't want the inevitible death threats every time we lose).

This stupid? You have to be kidding me. The guy has built a competitive program in the Southern Conference. As I said, he can recruit, he can build a TEAM, and he can win. Once again, what else do you want out of a head coach????

We are not gonna get some big time winning head coach from some major program, so those who want that just need to move on. Someone like this is what we are gonna get, and we would be stupid not to take it.

Just because it is special to us doesn't make it special to him. I am sure that he recognizes the history here but that alone probably wouldn't make him want to come here. I am sure if he was given the opportunity he would have turned down the Kentucky job too. What I was implying that it would have like his dream job, or an opportunity to return the his roots. McKillop is from Long Island by the way, and played for ECU and Hofstra. Like it was said earlier he is like 58 now and would not be a long term option for any program at this point anyway.

hey I have an idea, let's get McKillop to run a non-herb system with a bunch of herb's players, an apathetic 1-and done pro prospect, and no point guard

Kentucky?? Are you insane? And since when is 58 old as far as college coaches go? I am sure since he is from Long Island he would much rather coach Manhattan or Fordham over Kentucky or NCSU.

^^ I forgot how all the coaches where falling over the Kentucky job earlier last year. It's funny that people think coaches fall head over heels for either money, a programs history or both.

Kentucky wasnt paying that much. Pretty much every coach outside of about 10 programs would take that job in a heart beat. We are not Kentucky. They wanted Galespie. I dont even care enough to look up how its spelled, so whatever.

to some people its not "all about the money" especially when they're already financially well off and happy with their current quality of life

whoops, that post was too straightforward and legitimate for this thread, my bad

I would like you to define trolling please. I think this guy is better than what we have, I made a thread about it, just because you and some dont agree with what I have to offer doesnt mean I am trolling. I want our team to win, and honestly, I think any option out there other than Lowe gives a chance at this. Would you honestly rather have Lowe over McKillop??

Did you even know who this guy was before last year?

Did you know Davidson even played basketball?

Curry made this guy, he will fade back into obscurity when Curry leaves.

Really? He only has 4 losing records since taking over in 1989. So Curry is responsible for all that?

On a side note, how does a team go 25-5 and only make the NIT?

Its a sad state in NCSU basketball when people think we have no chance in hell of getting a coach from the Southern Conference of all places. I think this is the same group of people who were trying to decice last year who we should choose from between Barnes and Calipari. Oh how the times they are a changin.

Offer scholarships to the returning Davidson team members to go play for NCSU next year. Deny the current NCSU team scholarships to make room for them.

I mean, it must be us, right?

Its a sad state in NCSU basketball when you want to fire one of our own alums, who happened to lead us to a national championship as a point guard, after 2 seasons, to get a coach based on what you've seen his team do over the last 3 games
