I gave optmusprimer some 1/4" drive snap on sockets split stem to stern to change out for me, he took one look at them and said:
Quote : | "Damn, this looks like some shit Ivan would do. Did you use a 1/2" impact wrench with them or something?" |
In fact I did use a 1/2" IR Titanium gun with them to get Jeepman's starter bolts off 4/1/2008 11:05:31 AM |

haha, that's probably cause he's seen me not hesitate to throw the handle of my engine hoist jack on a 1/4" drive ratchet, and my garage is littered with stripped ones. it's one of my most favorite tools! sometimes you gotta work with what you got, he's just jealous of my... errr... resourcefulness... don't think i don't have a homemade crows foot or shorty box wrench or two around also, haha.
i've seen that fool go ghetto before too though. like using a stem wrench and channel locks on a crank bolt.

yeah he is
i think my greatest accomplishment to date has been bending the handle on a 3/4" drive breaker bar. i put a pipe over it and jumped up and down on it...that didn't work, so i basically deadlifted it. it broke the nut loose, but it bent the breaker bar!
i snapped a 1/2" drive bar on my S2000's axle nuts, too.
I can only remember exploding one socket. that was with an air wrench on a cross-threaded lug nut (had tires mounted and they shot a lug nut on crossthreaded with the gun), and it was not an impact socket.
i have snapped off an extension or two by doing the ol' 1/2" drive down to 1/4" drive method.
only other thing I can think of is a pile of ratchets that have met their demise at my hand.
i'm sure a couple of you fuckers have busted more tools than i even own, though. 4/1/2008 12:20:36 PM |

i tried to take two craftsman box wrenches back to sears one time to exchange, but they weren't having it. something about the tie rod they were welded to. 4/1/2008 1:15:17 PM |

yeah, they said they'd replace them if i cut/ground them back off (whatever difference that would have really made). wasn't worth it. 4/1/2008 1:24:16 PM |
