blackJak71 traded his jeep for this bus and we want to use it for tailgating.

Downsides (fixable?)
All Black, bad for heat and school scheme.

No side windows, hurts with heat and atmosphere inside bus alot.

Where do we park this beast?

Upsides

The inside doesnt have any bus seats in it, so we can get anything we want in it really.

Already has a generator in it.

Runs well.

Its a fucking bus.

Will fit a kegorator nooooo problem.

A-team racing stripe?

Problem with doing any major modifications, like cutting our own windows out, is that it will look like a major piece if we do it ourselves. Plus, if we did do that, we would have to put windows in it. I dont have much of any experience with that kind of overhaul. He has a lot more experience with such things, but it really boils down to cost and whats quality is actually attainable We shall see.

That ridiculous-looking grill guard on front could easily be turned/painted into the facemask on a football helmet if you wanna go that way with the front of that behemoth.

if you dont want to paint the whole thing red, maybe paint a big ass Block S on each side.

I was going to ask if this was formerly a prison bus, but I think those at least have widows IIRC.

paint it red and white - use some heavy duty paint, like tractor/farm equipment paint and it'll last

figure out some ventilation for when the weather is nice. windows would probably be costly, but it's worth a look

make sure you can lock it up good so dumb frat douches or the homeless don't break into it and/or steal your shit

pay $texas for parking (i would imagine), or park in the fairgrounds lot

spring for a TV and satellite for when we're playing later in the day

it needs a good sound system, some type of couch obviously...gotta do something with the front, maybe have a grill attached to the front of it? something along those lines

def. needs flags when finished. a loud train horn. needs windows or some type of flap that can be lowered and raised on hinges.

you can park it in the fairgrounds lot im sure, they wouldnt care if you have a pass

That would be the most ideal thing to do

plus you could make them as big or small as you want without much difference in cost.

definately has potential

Mr. Scrumples Yes that is Bigblueram's old bus

Here's some things I would do with such a bus for tailgating. Red carpet. Couches are a must. Maybe even fasten a table to the floor to play cards and drinking games on, as well as eat. A flat panel TV. Maybe a 27-30 inch would be just the right size. Not too big to take up a lot of space or make it hard to mount, but large enough for it to be entertaining. Mud flaps out back with the block S logo on them. Paint scheme is up to you. If you do choose to paint it be wise with the design. Definitely need a kicking sound system. In terms of ventilation, I imagine that you could fix the rear windows to open up. Maybe the best thing to do would fix them to crack open like the windows on large passenger vans and the rear passenger windows on extended cab trucks. Since there is a generator, small fans could go a long way in making it comfortable enough in there. You maybe able to salvage the BLUE BIRD lettering and rearrange it to say something like "BIG RED". Of course you'd have to do some metal working with the one of the letters to make a G.

get an old Air conditioning unit, like window units and attach it to that generator if it gets entirely too hot

but most of the tailgating would be done outside the bus...so id worry about accessories on it more than the inside, make the inside a party bus

one of the big questions is how many people are you going to tailgate with? is this going to be a community bus that your friends, their friends, friends of their friends, etc all come to hang out at (aka TONS of ppl), or will this be more of a smaller group of friends that are regulars?

cuz couches are a must, but may take up too much room if you're trying to cram 25+ ppl in there. also with larger groups you're not gonna play cards, etc. It would be cool if you used part of the bus to be a fold-out beer pong table. Like maybe the rack in the front is on hinges that folds out into a stationary beer pong table?

make sure to take into account places to store shit like that, and maybe cornhole as well

definitely be creative with storage space. another idea for ventilation would be sky windows that can be popped open.

What is the back door like? Can you put a barrel grill back there on tracks or hinges? If not, you could mount one on the back of the bus.

PAint it, are there roof vents? That would be the easiest option for ventilation.

I would cut an entire side out and attach leg structures to the top and put hinges on the bottom so that the entire side opens up to form a stage of sorts to increase seating at tailgating.

Take that bitch to Maaco and get the cheapest two tone red and white paint job that you can.

PS - you guys are now my heros. this is serious dedication.

i wouldn't do this, unless you wanna pay to get it painted every 2 years. honestly if you're going cheap, i'd look into heavy equipment paint (like this: http://www.valsparglobal.com/val/resident/valspar_imp.jsp ).
you can roll it on yourself and it'll hold up for a long time. otherwise you'd be best served to look into a paint job that will last, but for a freakin bus that shit'll be $5000+ i bet, unless you get a hookup.

good luck, hope to see it in action this fall.

if you leave a school bus stock you do. But this has been retitled as a recreational vehicle which means you don't. You have to add some things and have it inspected by the DMV to be retitled. There is a thread or two in the garage about it if you are interested.
