After the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament, this is second best four days in sports.

I always find it unbelievable what Tiger has done to the sport of golf, he was able to take a sport as unwatchable as an elementary school rendition of swan lake and make it an event that sports fans circle on their calendar 4 times a year. Even if he isn't in the mix, the attention he draws to the sport has made all the other golfers that much more interesting to watch.

SI has Tiger +120. Will probably throw 2 $50 bets on guys like Scott and Goosen and 3 or 4 smaller bets on big odds guys like Watney.

Sports fans have always watched the Masters, but he has done wonders for ratings/attendance for other tournaments.

Yeah a tournament is validated as big time or not depending on whether he shows up

I like when he comes to Charlotte because everyone follows him, so I can get better views of the other players

After all this buildup and hype I think he doesn't win. Or at least I hope.

I hope Phil gets his game together and takes the green jacket again.

Tiger is the only dominant force in any sport that i have ever pulled for

(other than jordans bulls but what else would you expect from a 10 year old?)

Pretty excited. Tiger tees off in less than an hour. They're broadcasting amen corner AND 15 & 16 at http://www.masters.org this year. I'm glad I'll have something to do in class.

they do on sundays; you see almost all of the leaders final rounds on sundays

and to the question about tv before 4pm, it has nothing to do with espn. that is how it has always been. they only allow limited coverage but have far less commercials so it kind of evens out just a little bit

betting this week against tiger is crazy imo. he simply will not lose this week. he is more focused than ever at backing up his claim of grand slam b/c he knows the courses set up so well for him this year. augusta, torrey pines, birkdale (finished 5th there in '98), and then oakland hills. if u bet against tiger this week you will lose money most likely

leaderboard has luke donald, zach johnson, and heath slocum all -2

tiger even through 4 with all pars

Mark O'Meara - who'da thunk it? Pretty cool though to see an older guy play well. Poulter's ace was nuts too, I wouldn't be upset if he won.

Yeah, when he retires or "cuts back", the sport is screwed.

looks like the hole location for 13 today could mean alot of eagle opportunities. slope feeds right to the hole.

Immelman tearing shit up

back to back 68s

Eldrick's got his work cut out for him

Unless the course plays hard as fuck this weekend, it doesn't look like over par is going to win

Still 5 back, but he is playing well. Just missed a 20 footer by an inch and the leaders will start to falter.. it's a given.

He needs to birdie the two Par 5's though...

Beautiful shot out of the bunker... Sneddeker is playing really well though. Tough for Tiger to catch him unless he completely blows up

it wont be 5 strokes by the end of the day, im thinkin 2, maybe 3 at most

he's poised perfectly while playing pretty bad
the others just cant capitalize on the conditions, tough hole locations too

but it wont be 5

I was wondering what that HUGE ovation was for... Tiger too under a foot from 118 yds.. I thought he was done with the birdies after the Par 5 miss, but not so fast...

*** nice recovery there... heres hoping he gets a few birds on the front 9 tomorrow that will REALLY put the pressure on.

i suspect he will be 2 back, and thats poised for him to make one helluva comeback tomorrow, considering how poorly his driver has been and how short he is leaving putts

he seems to be getting a feel on the putts now if only that driver will do what he wants.

dont count out Goosen tho, he is the most accurate Iron player i have ever seen, and I dunno how he does it.

those other guys are -8 and -9 and they still have a lot of golf to play...

they could extend the lead to -12 or more by the end of the day

or they could choke like i feel they will and bring that lead back down

it only takes a few mistakes or not capitalizing on moments and staying complacent
