What kind of nightmare stories (or good) do you have after you decided to take your ex back? Mine is making a play for me real hard, but I'm not sure about her. I'm sort of seeing a new girl and don't want to hurt her either.

this is almost as bad of an idea as buying a house with your bf/gf...

refer to the lounge thread...

you broke up for a reason...remember that....

people don't change that quickly

exactly, don't do it... unless it is a random hookup with the ex thing - those are quite nice I have heard....

And you should porbably dump the new girl as well, never keep them for more than 3-5 weeks.

It's like reading the same chapter of a book twice - you already know how it's going to end.

she moved out about 4 months ago to straighten some things out with her life and family. instead of waiting around like a loser i went out and met some new girls that i've started dating. my ex and i got along pretty good overall. plus she's hot.

I never have taken an ex back, and I never will

with me, you get one shot. if you fuck up bad enough that we broke up, then you're gone for good. I'm not the goddamn SAT where you can try as many times as you want.

same sort of thing happened to me before and it almost turned out to be the worst decision I couldve ever made. I'm getting married to my "new girl" in two weeks

she only wants you back because you have a new girl and she cant have you so easily anymore.

DO NOT GO BACK TO THE EX

^^ aha, no kidding.
exes are so transparent sometimes. like, as soon as you get a new chick, they start calling/emailing/wanting to hang out again. it's like they either:
A) really start missing the old relationship and hope to spark it again or want to boink
or
B) want to fuck up your current relationship because they don't want you to be happy if they aren't

um, it all depends on the circumstances of the breakup, really.

Yeah, I'm in the same situation right now. How "new" is the new girl? Chances are that you've known your ex for a while and it didn't work out. Do you think she's changed something about herself that would make her more appealing? Are you happier now that she's out of the picture? These are the types of questions I wouls ask myself. If this new chick is cool, I would see where that goes.

well the breakup wasn't the typical hate each other fight or whatever.

anyway the new girl is cute and a lot of fun, but i just don't have the same feeling i did for my ex. maybe it takes time to develop and i miss being in love, i don't know. i just hate to think that i write off my ex and end up regretting it later. there were some things i didn't like about her (for one she would get those lip blister things every couple months and that meant no BJ for like two weeks at a time, plus she smoked cigs and i always thought that was nasty).

how so?

Walk me through a scenario where two people decide to go separate ways instead of caring or working enough to keep it together, and then successfully get back together without those same issues or new ones that are worse.

A break comes down to one or more parties not wanting to make it work. (or dont have the ability, i guess)

if there are extenuating circumstances (parents threatened lawsuit or whatever), then there's still no reason to see other people if you plan on coming back after some time.

so you didn't like her because she has canker sores and smokes?

uhm...

those aren't gonna go away.

i say, stick with what you got. love takes time, and if you see that prospect, then i say, go for it.

^
i'm in a current situation. we really, really like each other... but she's taking the Bar exam, and I'm going to Israel. So, we're just keeping it casual with no commitment until around August, when both of us can finally commit the time it takes to go "all in."

If the breakup wasn't bad and ended in a fight, thats a really good sign.

You don't have to drop the new girl if she knows she isnt exclusive.

Love does not take time to develop. You can't make yourself fall in love, and you can't make someone fall in love with you. That bolt of lightning fucking hits and its on

As for the blisters, fuck it, a lot of people have that shit. Most people have HPV too, it just comes with the territory.

i'm going to make a generality because i know somewhere there are about .0298213% of the people that will come back with "well it worked out for me"...

let's look at this logically...

you broke up...it doesn't matter who did what or why to institute a breakup...it happened...

there was a reason why somebody in said relationship decided the other person wasn't worthy of being with them anymore...

you just can't take that shit back and erase it and pretend it never happened...

"ooo...i called you a psycho slut.....my b...i didn't mean it"...."oh honey...i'm sorry i said you have a small penis and your new whore looks like a goat...i was just angry"

as for the new girl...it makes no difference how long she's been around or if you are exclusive....that has jack shit nothing to do with the ex...

you chose the new girl for some reason....you decided against the ex for some reason...whatever the reason it's time lost...get over it...

^^^ According to the judge, you don't have to drop the current girl even if you are exclusive.

me and my gf just broke up 2 weeks ago...I 've contemplating the same thing-whether or not I would get back together w/ her if the opportunity presented itself. I've came to the conclusion that we broke up for a reason, and its for the best if we stay apart, all emotions aside...
