Haha, this is cool. I was gonna make this thread entitled "inarguably the world's ugliest car "
here is some background:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080409.008/unique-ukranian-bil-2005-limousine
Quote : | "Third limo by 52 year old ex-Lada worker
What do you get when you combine 15 years of working at Lada's Toliati Plant in Russia, 30 years of repairing Soviet cars and a 30,000 dollar credit limit? 52 year old Ivan Belitsky ends up with this rather unique looking BIL-2005 limousine.
The BIL-2005 follows the BIL-2002 and the original BIL-1986, all made by this one man. The BIL-2005 measures 9 meters in length, weighs 3,5 tonnes and has six exhaust tips, and even though it may never challenge Maybach or Rolls-Royce this limo could fall into the same category. Inside we find luxury items such as climate control, TV, DVD, leather seats and video surveillance.
Although information is sketchy at best, we can only conclude that Ivan Belitsky has hand-build at least two BIL-2005's, one in silver and an original black version." |
And Autoblog says this:
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/08/ukrainian-limousine-leaves-nothing-to-the-imagination/
Quote : | "The manufacturer of this calamity obviously didn't know when to stop (in fact, they apparently didn't know where to start either) as every styling, functional, and ergonomic rule has been tossed out the door. There is so much wrong with this disproportioned mess of machinery...
Don't question the six exhaust tips, the narrow trunk opening, or the running boards that don't exactly line up with the doors. Better yet, spend time pondering the aerodynamic hood bulges for the wiper blades, the old-school benefits of 14-inch wheels, and the envious looks you will get for the lavish ornamentation on the door handles. You know, we didn't see any seat belts inside - then again, would you want to be caught with a heartbeat in this thing?" |

So thats the backstory to that mudpit they call a highway. Seen it before but never figured out why there were so many street vehicles stuck in what would normally be more suited for boggers. 4/10/2008 4:29:29 PM |

i don't think it's nearly that bad normally. seems i read somewhere else that it's a main route to siberia, and turns sloppy when things melt or it rains. i can't remember for sure though. maybe Igor knows more about it. 4/10/2008 4:45:54 PM |
