hmmm. I already have an alvarez acoustic. Installing a pickup won't hurt the sound any? I wouldn't want to damage the guitar any

Installing a high-end microphone would probably be the easiest and safest way to do it, but installing a pickup would be manageable. Usually acoustic pickups and microphones aren't that large so they don't change the inner volume of the guitar. This means that it will have a minimal affect on the sound and usually won't even be noticeable to the human ear.
