i'm not sure how i'd feel about the yankees filing charges against this guy. that seems a little ridiculous.

I love how the one person refers to it as a "very very bad act" Flying 2 planes into the WTC is a very very bad act. You would think a New Yorker would know the difference.

i'm actually not at all surprised that they didn't know the difference in your personal definitions of 'very very bad act'.

yeah, I'm not sure why they would file charges for what was essentially a harmless prank. You know how baseball people are with their superstitions though.

These people need a good kick in the balls if they think that this harmless prank is a very bad thing. If you removed the line that said what this person actually did from the article, you'd think that he sabotaged the structure to make it collapse or something like that based on the quotes and the fact that the Yankees were considering filing some kind of criminal charge (what they would charge him with i don't know, 1st degree jinxing I guess ).

Now, they did dig it up which took hours... who should have to pay for that? The burial of the jersey could be viewed as an act of vandalism.

I don't know why the Sox guy let the cat out of the bag. Wait for the thing to be finished first so they can't dig the thing up... then the story lives forever.

They hired the guy to build the damned stadium, and he did it. He built it his way with a jersey in it. Bob Vila would have done it differently, but if they want to go all hissy now and try to make the red sox guy pay it'd be bullshit.

^^ Vandalism? Haha that's a good one. The jersey in no way affected anything in the stadium. No one would have ever known it was there if this guy hadn't talked about it. The Yankees can pay to remove it themselves because they're too superstitious to leave it there.

Who cares? Like the Red Sox wouldn't have done the same thing? Of course they would. Big deal.

They ended up donating the shirt to the Jimmy Fund for auction to raise money for cancer research.

Nothing wrong with suing him for the cost of removing it from the foundation.

He should be sued. He was hired to do a job, but instead he defaced property. He should also be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

If some yankees fan sharpie tagged the bathroom wall in Fenway, you assholes would be calling for him to be caned. I don't know when it became so cool to be a big Red Sox fan. Oh wait, right around when they finally fucking won a world series.

but did it destroy, injure, or disfigure in any way? I say no. No one would have ever seen it and it did not affect the structural integrity.

It disfigures it. The yankees wouldnt want bosox memorabilia to be there.

You people are being idiots. What the guy did was clearly wrong, and he needs to be responsible for his actions.

If you ask me they should just release his name to the newspapers, let justice work itself out that way.

i still dont think you can truly disfigure something if it doesnt affect anything in any way and no one can see it. i guess its splitting hairs. say someone drew something on a wall in my house they were building before they primed and painted it. even if it was something obscene, if it didnt affect anything and you cant see it I wouldnt care even if I was told later. Sure it was wrong but I really dont think he should be punished.

and what do you mean release his name? it has been. he was even on espn last night if i recall. or was he using a fake name or something?

he didn't destroy any property, he didn't injure anyone/anything, he didn't disfigure any property, so i don't see where this vandalism occurred.

Should go to show that the Yankee organization is not totally heartless. Otherwise why would they donate it for an auction to help a Red Sox supported foundation and not a Yankees one?

This is just helluva good PR for both sides. It makes people care like they do about rivalries in college sports.

If he gets charged with anything it would be criminal mischief. BTW, how hard would it be to find an impartial (to either team) judge? Even if it was a woman, her family has to have a side to be on.

There are plenty of woman fans, just figured someone would say it'd have to be a woman. This is TWW ST, where logic rarely exists.

So I guess you guys wouldn't have a problem with UNC memorabilia buried somewhere in Reynolds/RBC. Especially where you had the opportunity to remove it.

not really. i guess in baseball i can see it for stupid 'curse' reasons or whatever. but in all honesty its a pretty pansy thing to do. who cares. if you want to piss us off, paint something carolina blue. not hide something where no one sees it.

You would have really been upset if you had attended the Get Motivated Seminar at the RBC Center late last year. Roy Williams was one of the speakers. As he was being introduced, the Jumbotron screens had images of UNC Basketball which ended with the UNC logo being displayed as Carolina Blue spotlights went across the crowd.
