At least they don't check tickets at the RBC Center on the baseline and you can move to a better seat after the game starts on a low crowd night. Tonight at Doak Field they had to check my student ticket everytime I entered the student section that was about a third empty by the 5th inning. Why not just give us the hill and section 12 without making me pull my ticket out everytime I want to enter. The worst part is that tomorrow there will probably be 700 people there at most and I will be stuck sitting on the 3rd baseline in an empty stadium. THANKS FOWLER!

uhmmm because its ECU and its a packed game and people easily sit in the incorrect seat when all they need to do is stick with their ticket, THATS WHY YOU HAVE A TICKET ANYWAYS TO SHOW YOU WHERE TO SIT!

show up sooner and get a ticket in your spot you want, its that simple.

I really had no problem with making people sit in the correct seat tonight, but they weren't letting anyone go into the student section even late in the game when it was 1/3 empty unless you had a ticket. Tonight wasn't as big as a problem as tomorrow when 700 people will show up and they won't let you sit behind home plate even after the game is going and no one else is showing up.

They were probably trying to be over cautious tonight in trying to keep ECU fans and our students away from each other, but who knows. They should go back to the students can sit in 11, 12, and 13 as long as they don't fill up. As far as the new seating "regulations", I went to the baseball town hall meeting last semester and some of the current season ticket holders were not happy with the new changes.

^Yeh that's what I heard. Some guy over on packpride has season tickets, but also has a son who goes to NC State. They wouldn't let them sit together for one of the Virgina games I think because his son didn't have a ticket for the seat next to him in a half empty stadium. It's like a prison with security now. I don't have much problem with assigned seats at sold out games, but outside of ECU and UNC there is always plenty of room to sit where you want without stealing someone's lifetime seat.

It has got 10x more strict without an increasing level of attendance, even the real old timers are bitching about the new student policy.

^I heard that this year they sold over 600 season tickets which is a record, but yet the largest crowd all time is a little over 3,000 vs UNC with the hill packed to the max. So on nights when they draw their average 800 to 1,000 fans then that means there is about 2,000 open seats. There is no need for the lock down.

^on most nights during the weekend, there is around 1100 regular seats and 800 students there. Although i have seen some nights where there are more students than regular tickets there

Since when has any baseball had a seating chart that had to be followed? That's always the cool thing about baseball, you buy like a $6 ticket and in like the 3rd go sit in the 3rd row. I'm talkin about MLB, MiLB, anything...Or is this only a student/season ticket thing? I haven't been to a State baseball game in like 3 years.

^We do that, but the problem is once you are in there you can't go into any section that you don't have a ticket for even when the crowds are low. I've gone to weekend ACC games and there is always plenty of room to sit where you want. If we were selling out every game then assigned seating with guards wouldn't be a big deal, but we're not selling out.

^^ how do you get a ticket to different sections? I haven't been to a game in a couple of years, I always thought student seating was the hill and the section immediately beside it

^^That is a lot of empty seats in a small stadium like that. I went to the Brackman vs FSU game last year on a Saturday night and there was more than enough room to sit where you wanted to. I sat on the 3rd baseline near home plate and plenty of people could have sat next to me if they wanted to.

Agreed, the new policy is frustrating and needlessly strict. Last night was the first game I've gone to this season and I did come out feeling that it was so much easier last season...season ticket/reserved seats were marked, otherwise, sit wherever the heck you want to. Now they have the whole nonsense about every section except 11/12/13/hill being "reserved sections". And I also did have a "wtf?" moment when they checked my ticket to re-enter section 13 in the 5th inning...

Student seating is *either* the hill *or* sections 11-13. Not both, as in you cannot switch freely between them anymore like you used to could. 11-13 are also the General Admission section for the rest of the patrons. Sections 1-10 are reserved seats and you have to pay for them no matter who you are (though, admittedly, at $7/$10 they're not very expensive).

^Yeh like I said, even the guards at the RBC center let people roam free on the baseline once the game gets going. Sometimes they even go up to the 3rd level and tell people to move to the student section. It's stupid to be so strict at a baseball game. There were never any problems when it was general seating everywhere last year.

if enough people bitch about it AND stop attending games, they'll fix it.

i gotta say the seating policy is the main reason why i havent been to a game this season.

i have sat on the hill on occasion and i didnt really like it. those sections down at the far end are no where near as good as the sections closer to home plate and after hearing all the security nazi, i think i'll just pay to check out the durham bulls instead

So tonight that jackass who works the 3rd baseline kicked some guys out of the front row in the first section of reserved seats next to the general seats. The first 5 rows in that section were empty until the 7th inning when a few people moved over there. There were no more than 1,000 people there and most of the seats with "reserved" written on the back were empty all game. He kinda got into an argument with a woman who didn't understand why she couldn't sit in section 10 when no one was in it at the start of about the2nd, or 3rd innning. They really need to get away from lock down mode next season.

^i agree. I can understand it if the game is going to be near sold out, or sold out. But when something like that happens, and there are hundreds of seats all around....why be a pain in the ass?? i mean seriously

^There are 2 games that need assigned seating. Those are ECU and UNC. All other games have plenty of empty seats at them.

I showed up yesterday at the Campbell game with 2 of my friends (one was on crutches) and the staff guy immediately moved 3 people out of the handicapped seats for us to use...

No complaints here

so what was the Campus Police officer asking students to sign at the game? I saw him handing out what looked like witness forms (like when a crime happens and you saw it)

^^^^^sorry, i just read that. That blows...

i've been meaning to get to a game all season (i tend to listen to the radio broadcasts though) and it sounds like i'm simply not gonna go this year

reserved empty seats are horsehockey

sounds like doak field's got a case of rbc-itis

I wondered the same thing. I was sitting in section 13 and noticed him handing forms to a couple of the people in the front part of the hill...

^^No the RBC Center isn't nearly that bad. At the RBC Center you can walk into any 300 level section and not be asked to show your ticket. Sometimes the guards on the cheerleader baseline is a Nazi, but the ones on the dance team baseline never ask to see tickets. If you want in the student section wait till the guard on the dance team baseline isn't looking and you'll be able to walk right past him.

^^Justin Lilly's sister came up behind the guy next to me and told him/us to stop heckling Lilly and he said no, so she punched him in the back of the head. They had the two fill out forms for the police report.
