I already have a thread out there about wedding photography, and I also do trash the dress photo sessions with those lucky ladies who forsee no need to keep their gowns for marrying again!

We'll be wading in swamps, going on hikes, riding vehicles, and doing all sorts of fun hobbies, sports and adventures that you feel best fit your personality, all in the enthusiastic corruption of what once was perfect and beautiful! It can be a creative and fun way to artistically photograph your wild side, or to reflect a daring and bold move that we all take as we step into the future.

Not yet unfortunately, but I have one planned with a client where she will go hunting in her gown. It will occur in July sometime after we have had adequate rain for a good swamp detour.

you could encourage passing along the dress to someone less fortunate... then when they're like, "ok well what am i supposed to wear?" just do a nude shoot. they'll love it.

^^Yes, I'm serious. We were at a friend's wedding the other weekend, and they did it. I heard my father remarking to my younger sister that if she did that at her wedding he would refuse to pay. I believe it.

My last bride was going to trash her dress. We were gonna go to the state fair and get photos of her eating all those fried foods and going on rides, etc. But she wussed out

They do and it actually looks pretty cool. The bridesmaids usually are the ones who are black or red if there is gonna be a variation, but I have seen off-white, light-light pink, tan, and the most artsy was when this one girl had a white gown, but had a red sash, bordering and flowers.

if you spend lots of money on your wedding dress, or have it designed especially for you, then certainly you should preserve it or donate it or save it for your daughter to wear one day.

but if you spend a couple hundred bucks on a dress from David's Bridal, which was made cheaply and mass produced in some random warehouse in the Midwest, and there are a hundred thousand dresses out there that look exactly like yours - then guess what, the dress isn't that freaking special. i spent more money on a prom dress in high school than i did on my wedding dress!

that being said, i can't wait to get down and dirty in that dress while a photographer captures every muddy second of it

I'm so looking forward to it! It goes against everything I know as far as what Annie has trained me to do in handling dresses - wash your hands, brush your nails down, places to hold it if the bride requires assistance in getting dressed, etc. I can't believe I'm actually taking you in your beautiful gown to go strawberry picking and goat petting, it's gonna be hilarious.
