I'm applying for a sales position and I do not know the exact definition of this term (filling out a screening form). Can someone help me out here? I currently do some insides sales but nothing commision based, and have no clue what this phrase means. Sounds like Consultative Sales or Conceptual Sales. Bascially, your goal is to understand what drives the buyer and understand all the factors that influence their decision. You are not selling a direct product or merchandise. Your role is to understand the big picture and propose solutions to their needs. Of course your "solution" brings revenue to whatever company you are working for.
Very common in B2B sales like bank custody, technology infrastructure, HR outsourcing, etc.
